The PSOE denounces that the Budgets are turning their back on the Murcia Reactivation Plan with dozens of "orphan" social measures (21/10/2020)

Councilor Esther Nevado warns that "no money has been allocated to provide food coverage for the most vulnerable, there is no money either to face the strategy of homeless people or to intervene in the neighborhoods of preferential attention" The Municipal Socialist Group shows its disappointment that the 2020 Budgets set aside the Murcia Plan for Economic and Social Reactivation, with almost a hundred "orphan" measures, without economic appropriation.

These are measures focused on the residents of the municipality who have suffered from the crisis caused by the Covid pandemic.

"With this government team it is very difficult for the most vulnerable to be the priority, they do not care and although they talk about an increase in games there has not been such an increase, indeed, in the middle of the pandemic they have allocated the same money," explains the councilor Esther Nevado. In this regard, he points out that the Councilor for Finance, Eduardo Martínez Oliva "speaks of having designed a social budget, with an increase of 35%, however, the truth is that investment in social services in 2019 was 7.11% of the Municipal budget and in 2020 of 7.55%, that is, it has increased by 0.40 not 35%, or what is the same 1,400,000 euros, which is precisely the extraordinary fund sent by the Government of Pedro Sánchez " . On this, he clarifies, "the departure for charity and assistance in 2020 is 4,796,000 euros." And it is the same as last year! (in 2019, 4,476,819 euros), but they cheat: they start up new aid, they sell it as something that adds up, but in reality, to pay it, you have to subtract money from the ordinary aid fund.

There has been no increase.

"So if last year 4.5M € were allocated for these, this year we have three for Covid aid and one for ordinary, that is, the same. Of course, Nevado assures, "this is not to breastfeed, especially since we have not seen a provision to provide food coverage for the most vulnerable, there is no money either to face the strategy of homeless people or to intervene in the neighborhoods of preferential attention.

Therefore, what social budget is this? ". But what is more, according to the councilor, they have forgotten to include nominative grants from entities that develop social projects, so these entities do not have a guarantee of continuity of their projects.

"Let us remember that last year many of them were on the verge of losing their subsidies due to the neglect of the Department of Social Rights when signing the agreements and that at Christmas it had the majority unsolved. In short, Esther Nevado clarifies that "these Budgets are a reflection of the way of managing the mayor himself and his Government team, fantasy, loose and provisional, they are not the Budgets that this municipality needs or, of course, its people, not are the Budgets for a pandemic stage ".
