The improvement works continue in the Social Centers for the Elderly in the municipality (16/10/2020)

| The mayor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, today supervised the works that are being carried out in the center of Baños y Mendigo; and those in the center of Los Dolores, already completed | More than six hundred members of the Social Centers for the Elderly of Baños y Mendigo and Los Dolores will be able to enjoy, when the restrictions derived from the pandemic end, some renovated centers, where a series of works to adapt these spaces are being carried out to the regulations on accessibility, health and fire protection.Some necessary improvements that today has been supervised by the person in charge of the Department of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, who has visited these two centers to supervise the refurbishment works.CSM Baños y Mendigo: AccessibilitySpecifically, in the Bath and Mendigo Senior Center, which brings together 93 partners, improvements are still being made to adapt the space to the regulations on accessibility and health.In this way, an adapted itinerary has been launched that includes a ramp with a slope of no more than 6%, double height railings on the access stairs, widening of the passage that gives access to the canteen, installation of a attention to the accessible bar counter for wheelchair users, modification of the accessible toilet to include the difference in visual capacity and other details, as well as the fitting out of an accessible parking lot near the bathroom.In terms of sanitary regulations, all wooden kitchen furniture has been replaced by stainless steel.

The aesthetics of the entrance to the center have also been improved with the installation of paved pavement equal to that of the new ramp that gives access to the social center.CSM Los Dolores: Fire ProtectionOn the other hand, the Department of the Elderly has allocated an investment of 12,000 euros for the adaptation of the social center of Los Dolores, with more than 500 members, to the fire protection regulations.This work, which has already been completed, has consisted of the installation of a second exit to the entire upper floor of the senior center that allows guaranteeing the correct evacuation of users in case of fire, for which the space has been provided with a emergency exit and an external staircase also intended for emergencies.Councilor Paqui Pérez has shown her satisfaction with the progress of the plan for the improvement and adaptation of the Social Centers for the Elderly that her Department has launched so that "these spaces for the elderly are accessible and welcoming, places of coexistence and meeting where to carry out various activities -cultural, training and leisure- that allow users to socialize, share and enjoy company, in addition to acquiring skills ".
