A line of 215,000 euros will subsidize social projects to alleviate the consequences of the coronavirus (16/10/2020)

| The City Council approves a public call to promote the development of actions that contribute to face the social situation generated by the pandemic | Murcia City Council will allocate an economic line of 215,000 euros to the subsidy of social services projects that serve to alleviate the consequences generated by the coronavirus pandemic among the most vulnerable groups.The matter received this morning the approval of the Local Government Board at the request of the joint proposal that the councils of Social Rights and Family, of Pilar Torres, have transferred; Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, directed by Paqui Pérez; and Sports and Health, by Felipe Coello. Coping with extraordinary situations caused by CovidBoth departments, in order to contribute effectively to overcoming the social bill caused by the expansion of Covid-19, have promoted the approval of a public call for grants under a competitive concurrence regime for the realization of projects and the adoption of support and intervention measures to deal with the extraordinary situations caused by the pandemic.The intervention activities proposed by the different third sector entities that attend this call should focus on families, the elderly, people with disabilities, children and adolescents, gender equality, the immigrant population, the community gypsy, the associative and voluntary movement, gender violence and other groups at risk of social exclusion.Projects must be underway in March 2021 at the latestThe actions that are the object of a subsidy by this call from the City Council must be underway, at the latest, on March 31, 2021.

Likewise, a technical committee will be in charge of supervising and inspecting the subsidized activities and monitoring their development.The projects to be subsidized must, among other issues, promote and develop training and support actions for the social insertion of families at risk of poverty or social exclusion in coordination with the work that is being carried out by the teams of the Municipal Centers Social services.Likewise, they may cooperate with other entities in the area in the design and development of actions that affect both the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly and of the community in which they are integrated and carry out activities to promote intergenerational relationships.

.Similarly, with respect to the Department of Sports and Health will have an amount of 35,000 euros intended to subsidize projects related to its department, specifically aimed at health associations.Promotion of the role of women in political, cultural, social and economic lifeAnother objective that is aspired to be fulfilled by the projects to be subsidized is the promotion of the participation of women in political, cultural, economic and social life on an equal footing with men.Similarly, those options that seek to promote the association of the immigrant population will be valued, promoting the consolidation of services to the community and self-help groups.The lines of action that make it possible to prevent situations of lack of protection and child abuse, carry out extracurricular activities and in vacation periods for the recreational and educational occupation of leisure and free time of the child and adolescent population at risk of poverty or social exclusion and who work specifically with minors and adolescents in situations of social risk.Older: active aging, participation, new technologiesRegarding the service of the Elderly, the projects that affect the performance of training, cultural, recreational, artistic and health promotion activities, promotion of the participation and social integration of the elderly, promotion of volunteering, will be valued.
