| The City Council distributes large-format posters and specific videos to commemorate the International Day of Rural Women | The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Social Rights and Family, participates in the International Day of Rural Women, which will be commemorated next Thursday, October 15.On this occasion, the Government Team has designed a special dissemination and awareness campaign that is being disseminated by placing large-format posters on public roads and distributing some videos from today on social networks, the press and social media.The City Council participates since 2015For the fifth consecutive year, the Murcia City Council joins the International Day of Rural Women under the slogan "The role of women is essential for the sustainability of the rural environment."The Councilor for Social Rights and Family, Pilar Torres, has pointed out that "the needs of Murcians are a right and our obligation is to design policies that make social rights available to those who need it most.

That is why we endorse, defend and praise the important work performed by rural women to contribute to the revitalization of an environment that is basic for our municipality.

"Compliance with the Equality PlanWith this action, the Government Team complies with one of the specific measures contained in the Plan for Equal Opportunities Between Men and Women in the Municipality of Murcia and which refers to "the development of awareness and information campaigns on equal rights and opportunities between women and men coinciding with significant dates, such as the International Day of Rural Women ".The Department of Social Rights also maintains a close and fluid relationship with the different women's associations existing in the municipality of Murcia for the design and implementation of actions, activities and specific events that have rural women as the main protagonists.Create social awareness of the situation of rural womenWith the campaign launched, the City Council aims to raise social awareness about the difficult living conditions that some women living in rural areas go through, having to face precarious situations in the jobs they perform, lack of services and infrastructures and difficulties in accessing information and communication technologies, which are currently essential for job prosperity.The United Nations (UN) proclaims the International Day of Rural Women in order to make visible the contributions and recognize the rights of rural women, including their rights to land and resources.It also seeks to support and guarantee the empowerment of rural women so that they can claim the rights they deserve in a safe environment and fully enjoy the benefits of global development.
