The Ramón Gaya Museum commemorates its 30th anniversary with an exhibition that shows some unpublished pieces by the Murcian painter (09/10/2020)

| 'Chosen Work' is the title of the exhibition that covers a lifetime devoted to painting | About twenty works by the Murcian painter Ramón Gaya make up the exhibition 'Obra chosen', organized by the museum to commemorate the 30th anniversary, which will be held tomorrow, Saturday 10 October.Following in the line of work established during the three decades that mark the life of the institution, the Museum now exhibits a series of pieces to show a life dedicated to creation, that of Ramón Gaya, belonging, for the most part, to private collections and also to own funds.In turn, the City Council will publish a catalog on the occasion of this exhibition that, in addition to reproducing all the exhibited works in color, will include an author's text."The Ramón Gaya Museum has assumed, since 1990, the role of being a place of reference in the exhibition and production of important exhibitions of visual arts, all focused on national and local projection.

And in this sense, it understands art, and with special meaning the pictorial work of Ramón Gaya, as a necessary project for the social, cultural and artistic development of the city ", has pointed out the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco.The exhibition is curated by the Murcian sculptor and painter, Rafael Fuster, who has divided Ramón Gaya's life into four stages: Youth (1910-1939); Exile in Mexico (1939-1956); Return to Europe, to the 'Homeland of Painting' (1956-1978); and Maturity, reconquest of innocence (1978-2005).

The consecration of the painter.This anniversary will serve to show the visitor unpublished works by Ramón Gaya, that is, pieces that had not been exhibited until now such as 'La caula', a work from his time in Mexico and which, according to its curator, "will mark his life" ; 'Cuenca, the branch of the geranium', from the European stage; and 'En la rocking chair' -portrait by Isabel Verdejo-, 'Tomates' and 'Vaso con geranio'.  The exhibition, which can be seen until next March 2021, opens with the first oil painting painted by Ramón Gaya and closes with the last painting he painted: Glass with Geraniums (2004), specifically on April 13, months before die.For 'Obra chosen', the Ramón Gaya Museum has carried out a series of formal improvements to the temporary exhibition hall, in addition to enabling the audiovisual room as an exhibition space, where the end of this Ramón Gaya anthology can be seen.
