The Sombra Plan creates more comfortable spaces and protects neighbors from the sun in the Aljada de Puente Tocinos garden (09/10/2020)

The objective is to create shaded spaces that make them more comfortable, to the residents of the inclement sun, in neighborhoods and districts, thus facilitating family encounters, citizen participation and socio-cultural meetings, in addition to increasing the number of effective hours of use by the Murcian familiesThe objective is to create shaded spaces that make them more comfortable, protecting neighbors from the inclement sun, in neighborhoods and districts, thus facilitating family encounters, citizen participation and socio-cultural meetings, in addition to increasing the number of effective hours of use by Murcian families. In this case, two new shading systems have been installed in the Aljada garden with microperforated structures, which allow the temperature of the children's play area to be lowered by several degrees and increase the number of hours it can be used by the families of Puente Tocinos.Specifically, one has been installed in the children's area, to protect the little ones and adapt the area to any inclement weather and another, in the biosaludable area that allows practicing outdoor sports at any time of the day."With the Shadow Plan we intend to install more than 160 new canopies and shade systems, more than 50 are already a reality, distributed in the parks of Murcia and its districts so that families can enjoy these new spaces at any time of the year" José Guillén has reported. It should be remembered that from the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration an intense work is being carried out to cover and provide shade spaces that are widely used by Murcians, such as children's areas in parks and gardens.

This improvement is in addition to the complete remodeling of the garden that was completed a few months ago.Aljada Garden RemodelingThe garden has 1,450 square meters of natural meadow and more plants distributed in two circular flowerpots -which also serve as benches- and that give color to the environment. The pond has been remodeled and divided into three environments: on the one hand, a children's play area; on the other, a gerontogimnasia area (both of 130 square meters); and in the center, a fountain with a new system of water games and LED lighting. The project has involved the elimination of architectural barriers in the garden, as well as the installation of pavements and construction of new entrances -three entrances to the garden adapted to accessibility regulations-, the remodeling of the pond, new plantations, urban furniture, irrigation network and rainwater collection systems.Specifically, a ramp has been developed that opens the garden to the district's main artery, Calle Mayor, as well as a step-ladder that serves as an element for the enjoyment of public events in the square. In addition, a tropical wooden bench has been installed that surrounds this entire environment and that serves as a contemplative element of the fountain and the two play areas for children and adults. The rest of the benches are made of concrete - vandal resistant and anti-graffiti - to achieve optimum maintenance.

New bins have also been installed.
