Murcia and Genoa advance in promoting cultural exchange activities within the framework of the twinning between both cities (05/10/2020)

| Mercedes Bernabé and Jesús Pacheco hold a meeting with Italian municipal representatives to study joint projects for the dissemination of both cultures | The councilors of Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, and Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, today held a meeting by videoconference with the mayor of Genoa's Tourism Economic Development and Territorial Marketing, Laura Gaggero, to continue advancing in the implementation of joint initiatives and projects within the framework of the twinning between Murcia and Genoa.In this way, the purpose of the meeting has been the development of the different actions carried out by both territories to promote culture.

In this sense, the first of the outstanding issues has been the promotion of the Rolli Palaces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site."The exchange of experiences and values ??is an opportunity for mutual growth that allows municipal representatives to implement actions that are within our reach to bring culture closer to our citizens," said Mercedes Bernabé.The collaboration of the City Council with the dissemination of the 'Rolli Days' took place during the month of May, whose videos were very well received by the social networks of the consistory.

This action will be carried out again next weekend within the framework of the twinning.Also, in line with this cultural exchange, Jesús Pacheco has highlighted the involvement of Genoa in the next edition of 'Pass without calling'.

"The objective is that the Italian city shows through its digital platforms our architectural heritage, where citizens of two capitals of reference in the world live", highlighted the mayor.

 On the other hand, Mercedes Bernabé has conveyed to the Italian municipal representatives the approval by the European Commission of the SISTER project on town twinning.

"This initiative will strengthen the common links between Murcia and Genoa through the implementation of different initiatives and will contribute to the creation of a common space that will serve as an example for other countries."The City Council has a path in the participation of different networks at national, European and international level that will favor the lines of this European plan to have more scope and dimension.

Thus, Murcia will be in charge of channeling all the actions that the implementation of this project includes.Among the planned events, there is the visit of a Genoese delegation, which will allow to bring both territories closer through different social, cultural and institutional activities, the sister city will be made known as the gastronomic capital and a space for exchange between technicians will be developed municipal.Finally, the meeting has served to advance the City Council's participation in the next edition of Euroflora, the largest international fair for urban landscaping and gardening, which will take place from April to May 2021.

“This event, in which the town hall It already participated in 2018, it is an opportunity to make our identity and culture known throughout Europe ”, explained the mayor of Agenda Urbana.
