| The City Council will make the new facility available to the swimming and water polo clubs of the municipality, where they can prepare for the winter season | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, visited this morning the works that have been carried out in the Espinardo pool, which involve the installation of the new cover.

The City Council will make this pool available to the municipality's swimming clubs, where they can prepare for the winter season.“We are taking another step in improving public spaces in our neighborhoods and districts, with the installation of this new roof; a swimming pool that will open at the beginning of November for the more than 400 federated swimmers of the municipality ”, highlighted José Ballesta.

It is a project that faces its final stretch, since the new pool cover has already been installed and the only thing left to do is finish the finishing touches for its opening and enable the air conditioner. In this context, the City Council will make the pool available to the Master Swimming, Fuensanta de Murcia Swimming, Murcia Waterpolo, Murcia Swimming and Murcia City Swimming clubs, centralizing training in this facility; clubs that registered a total of 434 swimmers during the 2018/2019 season.During the event, the Murcian councilor announced that “on October 1 the heated pools of El Palmar, El Infante and Puente Tocinos will open, and on October 6 the Mar Menor pool, in which the City Council has deployed a cleaning and disinfection for its opening, which will be carried out following all safety and hygiene protocols ”.Six lanes for swimming and a maximum capacity of 44 peopleThe Consistory has allocated an investment of 175,147 euros to this project, which has involved masonry work and the installation of the roof, and which will involve its air conditioning.Specifically, a telescopic cover has been installed, which allows it to be moved by modules, so that the glass can be left in the open air and be used as a summer pool.

Likewise, the roof is made up of curved aluminum arches and longitudinal profiles on its roof and façade, which lend the complex slenderness. This new indoor pool is scheduled to open in early November, with six lanes for swimming.

It will have a maximum capacity of 44 people, due to the health crisis, although the total capacity of the new covered swimming pool in Espinardo would be 90 people. On October 1 the season starts in 3 heated poolsLikewise, on October 1, the quarterly season will begin in three heated municipal swimming pools –El Palmar, Infante and Puente Tocinos–, under all the measures established by the sanitary protocol.

For its part, the Mar Menor swimming pool will open on October 6, once the renovation works that are being carried out have been completed. The protocol for making use of the indoor swimming pool facilities is as follows:-Mandatory use of a mask and the obligation to maintain a safety distance.-Access to the facility must be made no more than 10 minutes before the start of the course.-Lockers will be enabled, guaranteeing their disinfection after each use, being mandatory that all the user's belongings are kept in them.-The use of air dryers is prohibited due to the possible risk of virus transmission.-In the rest of the non-aquatic facilities, the use of changing rooms, showers, wardrobes or lockers will not be allowed, so the user must enter with the necessary clothing to practice sports activity.-The exchange of sports equipment without prior disinfection is prohibited.

The user must clean it with hydroalcoholic gel sprays or disinfectant liquid, which will be provided at the installation, before and after use.Likewise, users must declare under their responsibility that they do not suffer from any disease or pathology that prevents the practice of the activity and that they will not go to the facility in case of presenting symptoms compatible with Covid-19, being in close contact with a positive or being awaiting the result of a PCR / serological test.A decade ago, the Espinardo pool had another cover, and it was used as a winter pool, until the JC1 center was inaugurated.

From that moment, the Espinardo swimming pool began to be used exclusively as a summer swimming pool, since the residents of the area came to the new facilities. In this context, thanks to the works that have been undertaken recently, the City Council has recovered the Espinardo covered swimming pool, improving the quality of its services.Special cleaning and disinfection deviceThe City Council has deployed a special cleaning and disinfection device in municipal swimming pools, with frequent ventilation, cleaning and disinfection of spaces and materials, emphasizing those elements that are shared or that can be touched by different people.

themselves.Likewise, in the event of existence of recreational or sports equipment for use in the pools, such as floats, tables or the like, exhaustive cleaning and disinfection will be carried out, ensuring that there is no cross-transmission between people. In addition, bins equipped with pedal, mats and shoe disinfectant products, as well as hydroalcoholic gels for washing and disinfection of hands that will be found at the entrance of the facilities, will be available to users, and closed spaces will be ventilated before and after at the end of the day.
