The University of Murcia, the Regional Assembly, Ecologists in Action and Amnesty International have signed an agreement creating the Chair for Human Rights and Rights of Nature, the purpose of which will be to establish a space dedicated entirely to research, training , dissemination and awareness in the field of human rights, the rights of nature and the multiple interactions between both fields. Under the cover of the chair, cooperation between the University of Murcia and the entities signing this agreement will be promoted to face the climate emergency and contribute to an ecological and social transition that is respectful of the rights of people, the rights of future generations.

These activities will pay special attention to the natural ecosystems of the Region of Murcia with greater ecological and social relevance, such as the Mar Menor.

Issues related to urban mobility will also be addressed; atmospheric pollution, the economic, legal and social transitions necessary to face climate change; the protection of immigrants and refugees affected by natural disasters, etc.
