More than 26 km of bike lanes are being developed, between the Raal and the Contraparada, to promote outdoor sports (26/09/2020)

This is the greatest environmental transformation of the last decade, becoming the largest river park and leisure park in the municipality.The 'Murcia Río' social and environmental recovery project is made up of the Alameda del Malecón, the Cuatro Piedras, the bike lane of the mota del río, the intelligent lighting of the riverbed installed throughout its urban section; as well as the right and left banks of the river, the River Walk and the La Contraparada Visitor Center.The continuation of this transformation project continues with the works of the Teniente Flomesta Garden, which will be completed in a few weeks and will offer 8,200 m2 for family rest and leisure with views of the river.Murcia Río II will extend along 27 km of riverbed, covering 14 districts, from Contraparada to Alquerías and El Raal, and will mean the creation of new leisure, sports and cultural areas throughout its route.

This project continues to develop with new green areas and river paths that will enhance the Segura landscape over 2 million m2.Three new footbridges will connect both banks of the river at the height of Murcia Parque-Museo del Agua, Jardín Soto-Cuartel de Artillería and Jardín de la Alameda-Barriomar.Among the actions to be carried out in the meanders, the restoration of old motes stands out, the creation of naturalized parks in green areas near the riverbed, the creation of agroecological river terraces and new access roads to the river area.
