The new Afamur Day center opens its doors and commemorates World Alzheimer's Day (21/09/2020)

| The building, built on a municipal plot, became operational on September 1 and has the capacity to serve a total of 60 people, although currently has a maximum capacity of 40 people, due to the health crisis | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, the president of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients in the Region (Afamur), María Teresa Palacín, and the director of the entity, Inocencia Gil , visited this morning the new headquarters and therapeutic center in Afamur, which came into operation on September 1 and is built on a 1,835-square-meter plot of land donated by the City Council.“Today, World Alzheimer's Day, Murcian society recognizes the important work of Afamur, the first association in the Region that saw the need to strengthen support for people with Alzheimer's and their families 27 years ago, a pioneering entity that currently it provides coverage to about 200 people, including relatives and patients, ”said José Ballesta.During the visit, organized on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day, which is celebrated today, September 21, the Murcian councilor added that “the new center represents a qualitative leap in improving the quality of the service provided, thanks to the new facilities and outdoor spaces ”.

A total of 13 professionals work there - including psychologists, physiotherapists, nurses and social workers - who carry out two activities: cognitive stimulation and group physiotherapy.
