The Gran Vía will close to traffic tomorrow to promote healthy mobility and guarantee physical distance (19/09/2020)

The municipal COVID-19 monitoring committee has agreed to maintain this initiative that the City Council began to implement in Phase 1 of the de-escalation and that other municipalities in Spain have successfully replicated, as well as to postpone the holding of healthy workshops in this environment, which will be used exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists.The Gran Vía will close to traffic tomorrow to promote healthy mobility and guarantee physical distance, following the safety and hygiene protocols recommended by health authorities, within the awareness-raising initiatives of the European Mobility Week.The municipal COVID-19 monitoring committee, which carries out a daily analysis of the evolution of the pandemic, has agreed to maintain this initiative that the City Council began to implement in Phase 1 of the de-escalation and that other municipalities in Spain have replicated with success.The coordination between the Health Area and the mobility service of the Murcia City Council has adopted this decision based on the latest data on the progress of the pandemic in the municipality of Murcia and has postponed the holding of healthy workshops in this environment that will be allocated exclusively for pedestrian and cyclist use.As the Murcia City Council has been reporting, in the agenda of the European Mobility Week, "the celebration of all activities are subject to the evolution of Covid-19 and the regulatory indications and recommendations of the health authorities" .Despite the fact that all activities are planned in compliance with the cleaning, hygiene, disinfection, social distance, street occupation, Police authorization and health area protocols, the Department of Mobility has already prepared these days subjecting the celebration from the same to the evolution of the data and under strict compliance with the recommendations of the municipal health area and the indications of the CARM.The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, has indicated that “all the activities carried out by the City Council are analyzed by the monitoring committee.

Depending on the case, these activities are reformulated, rethought or reoriented daily.

This is not an extraordinary decision but a collective work of coordination to give security and tranquility to Murcia from responsibility and serenity ".
