The Governing Council of the University of Murcia approves starting the course in the modality of blended teaching (10/09/2020)

| The information on this teaching format is included in the contingency plans of the faculties approved last July | The Governing Council of the University of Murcia has approved the blended teaching mode for the first semester of the next academic year 2020-21.

This decision is taken after assessing the evolution of the pandemic in recent weeks, which advises starting classes with a reduced and safe presence to avoid crowds on university campuses and at the accesses to them.

The academic activity will begin on September 28. Detailed information on how each faculty has organized blended teaching is included in the contingency plans of each center, which are published on their web pages together with the exam schedules and calendars.

These plans had been prepared since July to take on any of the possible scenarios: face-to-face, blended and online teaching. The Vice-Rector's Offices for Studies and Strategy and the Digital University have designed a comprehensive training program for the use of the Virtual Classroom from the basic operation to the use of new multimedia and interactive tools that will be launched on September 14 with a view to starting of the next course.

These courses will be organized within the UMU Training and Professional Development Center.

At the same time, the Information and Communication Technologies Area is finishing the creation of a support portal for this type of teaching.

These activities will begin next week.

Likewise, a training activity on the Virtual Classroom is being designed for students, with special attention to newcomers. Over the next few days the action protocols to be followed in the event of contagions among the university community will be outlined, which will be duly informed.

These protocols will be developed in accordance with the Recommendations of the Ministry of Universities to the university community to adapt the 2020-021 university course to an adapted presence of the Ministry of Universities and to preventive measures against COVID-19 in the universities of the Region of Murcia prepared by the Ministry of Employment, Universities and Research. All official notices and documents that have to do with the adaptation of teaching, research and management at the University of Murcia have been published since last March on the website https://www.um.es/web/universidad / content / coronavirus Finally, the Governing Council has suspended the graduation events for students initially planned for this semester, considering that the minimum circumstances for their completion do not concur.
