Municipal Infant Schools will have healthy and varied menus for summer and winter (06/09/2020)

| The City Council allocates more than 600,000 euros to the dining room service that will cover more than 500 students for three years | The Children's Schools of the municipality will offer healthy and varied menus for summer and winter through their dining room service, prepared by the Municipal Health Service and prepared in the kitchens of the centers themselves, which have a staff of seven chefs.The supply of food products for these centers will be in charge of the Acacio company, with a budget of 617,335 euros (VAT included) for a period of 3 years, extendable to two more, whose award was approved by the last Governing Board.The municipality has seven Infant Schools, which this year will serve a total of 519 children, between 0 and 3 years old: San Roque Infant School (El Palmar); Beniaján Infant School (Beniaján); La Ermita Nursery School (La Alberca); La Paz Infant School (Murcia); El Lugarico Nursery School (El Palmar); Nursery School Our Lady of Fuensanta (Santiago el Mayor); Nursery School Our Lady of the Angels (Sangonera la Verde).Among its services is the dining room, where children are offered menus prepared by the Municipal Health Service and prepared in the kitchens of the nursery schools themselves with a staff of seven cooks.“These are healthy menus that are made for nest children, one and two years old.

There is also one for summer and another for winter to adapt to the temperatures and seasonal products.

Regarding the relationship between the type of products, fruits and vegetables, groceries, fresh fish, butchers and poultry and frozen foods stand out, ”explains Belén López, councilor for Education and Nursery Schools.Tomorrow, start of courseThe seven Nursery Schools in the municipality begin tomorrow, September 7, the 2020/2021 academic year and do so with a strict protocol to guarantee face-to-face education for the 519 students, aged between 0 and 3 years.Among the measures, the creation of a Covid Team stands out, which will be in charge of monitoring and accounting for all incidents, controlling the entry and exit of students and families through the courtyard, taking the temperature before entering, limitation of teaching materials and games in the classroom, naps in groups and dining room in shifts.Likewise, it should be noted that last Friday the City Council carried out the rapid coronavirus detection tests with negative results to the entire team that works in Nursery Schools, a total of 87 people, including teachers, cooks and workers.
