This meeting was already foreseen in the agreements of the same governing body on July 24, when the contingency plans of all the faculties were approved. The University of Murcia approved on July 24 the contingency plans of all the necessary faculties to design the beginning of their academic activity in the next academic year 2020-21 based on the evolution of COVID-19.
In these contingency plans, three possible scenarios have been established for the development of teaching: (1) face-to-face; (2) the blended (or "reduced and safe presence") and (3) the non-contact (online teaching 100%). At that same meeting, the Governing Council approved that the decision of which of the three scenarios would be chosen would be taken at another meeting of this same body to be held in the week of September 7.
This decision will take into account the evolution of the pandemic and the set of health regulations and instructions that have been developed up to that date, acting in coordination with the rest of the regional public university system. Starting next week, the necessary preliminary coordination work will be carried out with the different faculties and other administrations in order to have as much information as possible before making a decision.
During this month of August, multiple infrastructure and technological actions have been carried out to prepare the UMU campuses for this new teaching context. It is recalled that the start of the course is scheduled for September 28.
This date was chosen at the time to give the centers, departments, units and services time to have all their procedures and actions duly reviewed and updated before the start of academic activity.
