The PSOE denounces that the lack of foresight and management of Ballesta is leaving the Murcia Local Police defenseless (25/08/2020)

"For more than a month there has been no maintenance contract for the police communications network.

Leaving the agents without secure transmissions is putting their personal safety and that of the citizens at risk" denounces the socialist councilor Teresa Franco. "It is a problem of lack of management.

If Ballesta or his councilors had foreseen the termination of the contract now, the personal safety of the police or that of the neighbors would not be at risk", Teresa Franco. That the Local Police of Murcia is going through the worst moment in its history is nothing new.

The socialist councilor, Teresa Franco, has been denouncing the situation of this security body since the beginning of the legislature.

"To all the problems that the agents already had: no call for competitions for new positions, lack of security in districts, disappearance of police officers in public buildings, police officers filed for exercising their right to request, work material in a painful state ...

Now we must add the problems in their communications that, in a random way and without prior notice, collapse ", denounces Teresa Franco. Our agents have been experiencing difficulties in their communication network for more than a month and a half.

"Today they are thrown into the street to patrol without the possibility of having secure transmissions.

The same works, the same does not.

This means that they cannot request reinforcements effectively and that their personal safety and that of our municipality it depends on the randomness of the system ", explains the socialist mayor. "Officers are having to resort to using their own mobile phones to be able to contact their colleagues and if the coverage was not enough, or if the phone or battery failed, we would probably have to face a very dire situation." Franco laments. "What has the Ballesta government and its councilors done to remedy it? The usual: patch.

They limit themselves to meeting specific requirements, calling a technician and paying him every time the system falls to restart it," Franco protests.

"This continues to leave our agents defenseless.

Besides being ineffective, it is uneconomical," he protests.

The councilor believes that the municipality of Murcia needs "that the government team leave behind the precarious solutions and the lack of foresight." "When a police officer loses a radio, he or she is expedited.

However, when a politician forgets to renew the contract on which the security of this police officer depends, what happens? Nothing? This cannot be the way the City Council works.

of Murcia "demands the socialist councilor. "One of the possible solutions to this problem is to invest in an alternative secondary network that guarantees the communications of the Local Police, something that the same workers have been requesting for a long time but that neither Ballesta nor Martínez Oliva have attended, resulting in let's face the insecurity of situations like the current one, "explains councilor Franco. "We demand a minimum of responsibility from the mayor and his government team.

It is not the first time that a contract expires, with Eduardo Martínez Oliva, current councilor for citizen security and economic management, being the person in charge of such contracting.

We are not going to allow citizens to and the agents continue to pay for the mistakes and irresponsibility of this councilor "concludes Teresa Franco.
