| This system allows water to circulate faster, preventing it from stagnating, reducing the appearance of insects such as mosquitoes and improving the visual aspect of these spaces | The Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, led by José Guillén, has installed a new oxygenation and water saving system that has been launched in different lakes of the municipality. This system allows the water to circulate faster, preventing it from stagnating, reducing the appearance of insects such as mosquitoes and improving the visual aspect of these spaces.Specifically, the City Council has installed submersible pumps and self-priming pumps, which fulfill two functions: the first, the movement of the mass of water and its oxygenation.

The second, saving energy in the lakes, in this case, 3,300 cubic meters, which are the ones that the Salitre lake has."The objective of the water treatments in the lakes and fountains is to maintain the optimum level of quality for the neighbors and visitors who contemplate them daily, as well as for the animals that inhabit them.

Our commitment is that Murcians can enjoy the outdoors of the green areas of the municipality, since they are safe spaces, of meeting between neighbors and friendly for all ", explains José Guillén.In summer, especially, the water is oxygenated in all the lakes of the municipality, tasks that are added to those of water treatment and daily cleaning. The City Council carries out an exhaustive summer campaign on the cleaning of sources and lakes in the municipalityIn total, 6,000 water treatments are being carried out, what we know as chlorination and disinfection, and more than 5,000 times they will be cleaned, both the 81 sources, as well as the 9 lakes in the municipality of Murcia. In this way, the City Council complies with its policy, controlled and planned, of supervision of the different lakes and sources of the municipality, paying special attention to the quality of the water to verify that dangerous bacteria are not generated.Pool PlanThe rehabilitation and improvement of fountains is included in the well-known Alberca 2023 plan, which aims to bring all the residents of the municipality the benefits that the installation of fountains and lakes in green areas brings. They are spaces that attract life, as well as being a spectacle, since the cascading water is one of the most beautiful visual perceptions of nature; improve air quality, turning green areas into cooler spaces with cleaner air; create a relaxing space; They provide a microclimate, softening temperatures and are a hallmark of our municipality."Water is very present in the history of our city, it has been an indispensable element in Mediterranean gardens since their origins and we are giving them a central place in these spaces," says José Guillén.As part of the Alberca Plan, the City Council is also working on the construction of ten new ornamental fountains in the most emblematic places of the city, such as Santo Domingo and San Esteban.
