The works of the new maneuvering field that will allow simulating real fires and aquatic rescues are facing their final stretch (20/08/2020)

| The field, of 10,254 m2, is located in the San Ginés industrial estate and will open as the new City Council Fire School | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Citizen Security and Economic Management, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, visited this morning the works that are being carried out for the construction of the new maneuvering field for the Murcia Fire Department, that face their final stretch and will allow the professionals of the City Council's Fire Fighting and Rescue Service (SEIS) to be trained through real simulations, carrying out emergency actions in the most realistic conditions, such as fires and rescues on the road and among the rubble.

of an earthquake.“This field of maneuvers, which is going to be constituted as the new Fire Department of the City Council, will result in the quality of the services of the SEIS and in the safety of citizens, since it will allow training activities simulating emergency actions before a great variety of scenarios, in an area of ??more than 10,254 square meters ”, highlighted José Ballesta, who added that“ it will be the first elite center of these characteristics in our Region, a pioneering facility that will train firefighters in the most realistic conditions ”.Specifically, the City Council has allocated an injection of 845,478 euros to the construction of this field, which is located in the western industrial estate of San Ginés, next to the municipal Ecopark.Water rescue in a 7 meter deep pool and a 40 meter highway to simulate traffic accidentsThe works have involved the construction of a rescue pool of 100 square meters and 7 meters deep, which has interior galleries and which will allow water and underwater rescue practices - submerged vehicles, search for people, etc.

-.The course also has an asphalt 'traffic' esplanade, measuring 2,572 square meters, where a 40-meter-long stretch of two-way highway has been recreated.

The section is equipped with ditches, gutters and ramps to simulate rescues in complex situations.

This area is completed with a double railway with two train cars.

Likewise, the center has an auxiliary building for classrooms, changing rooms and storage, among other uses.4,200 m2 to simulate maneuvers with real fireThe new field features an esplanade of 2,015 square meters, where maneuvers with live fire will be practiced.

In this esplanade, in addition, the construction of an industrial building is projected, which will simulate a chemical plant; and of a 'container house' - a building constructed from stacked and interconnected maritime containers, which will allow to reproduce indoor fires. The work carried out on this esplanade will be controlled by two protection booths and an observation tower, from where the practices will be viewed.

This space also has a 450-square-meter building with 2 basements, where it is planned to raise eleven floors above ground, simulating an 11-story building, in which they will be able to train by carrying out fire fighting and rescue actions from height.

In addition, a 'fire pool' has been built on this esplanade that will allow simulating fiery hydrocarbon spills and gas escapes. As a whole, between the 2,015 square meter esplanade and the rest of the spaces in which firefighters will be able to carry out fire practices, the professionals will have 4,200 m2 to simulate maneuvers with real fire.Network of tunnels and rescues among rubbleThe center also has a series of collapsed structures to simulate search and rescue operations; an area of ??1,200 square meters in which professionals will carry out rescue maneuvers reproducing, for example, rescues among rubble, as if an earthquake had occurred. The field also features a network of tunnels with a length of 200 meters, where they will simulate maneuvers in confined spaces.A pioneer center in the Outreach RegionIt is a pioneering center in the Region, which will allow both SEIS professionals, as well as firefighters from neighboring communities, to carry out practices simulating real situations. In addition, the field of maneuvers will function as an outreach center that will be attended by schools, neighborhood associations and housewives, senior centers, companies and municipal officials.

The groups will receive training on fire prevention - on how to handle, for example, fire hydrants and extinguishers. The works will finish in September and, later, the set-up for its opening will begin.

In this sense, the training courses are scheduled to begin in early 2021.

To avoid possible noise, the maneuvering field is located in an isolated area, without residential buildings in its surroundings.Technical list of actionsThe following actions have been carried out on the plot.1.

Conditioning of the land.

Fencing, leveling and interior urbanization of the plot, with concrete paving in "fire areas" (about 4,200 m2) and agglomerate in circulation areas (about 4,800 m2).2.

Facilities and services: electricity supply with lighting and power towers; natural gas and LPG forecasting for fire simulation; water supply and fire protection; telephony; drainage of the plot.3.

Field of maneuvers, in which five different areas are distinguished:-Explanade of practices: consisting of an open space with a building for practices or "fire house", with two basements and four floors above ground, in addition to a tower of ten heights of maneuvers.

This area is completed with an auxiliary building for classrooms, changing rooms, storage and other uses.-Area of ??collapsed structures and confined spaces: consisting of a simulation of collapsed buildings by means of piling up rubble and a network of tunnels under the surface for practices in narrow spaces.-Explanada de fuego: this is a space for maneuvers and practices with real fire, with an industrial area based on metal structures, container area (flash-over), liquid fuel fire pool and tray area.

Around this space there are three protection booths and an observation tower, which allow to control and visualize the practices.-Traffic platform: for vehicle release practices in different situations, with a simulation of sections of road and railroad.
