| Until August 29, 16 operators will work on this extraordinary device that will reach all neighborhoods and districts of the municipality | The Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, together with the concessionaire of the Road Cleaning and Waste Management Service, Ferrovial Servicios, have prepared a special cleaning device in the summer season.Throughout this month of August, until the next day 29, fumigation and clearing will be carried out, as well as cleanings of shock due to fruit and molasses stains in all the neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.Twelve operators and four specialist laborers are involved in this new cleaning, clearing and fumigation plan, which is added to the ordinary cleaning tasks. In the districts, they will work in the morning, from Monday to Saturday, while in the urban area they will work during the day and at night. To carry out these tasks, four high-pressure cleaners, low pressure equipment of 600 and 200 liters, with fumigation equipment, 16-liter back-pack equipment for detailed work, four tanks and sidewalk scrubbing machine are used.Weed removalThese clearing works consist of eliminating and preventing wild vegetation from engulfing urban areas.

For the correct development, the mechanical clearing works are coordinated with the application of the legally authorized plant protection products, being necessary to indicate the treated areas, for security reasons.

Clearing and fumigation tasks delay the growth of this type of vegetation and prevent the proliferation of insects.Likewise, these works on the urban road, keep them clean of vegetation, also preventing the removal of pavement, and provide security to pedestrians who transit them. From the end of April to June, these works were carried out throughout the municipality.

In the previous device, 600,000 linear meters were traveled, and around 44,000 liters of non-selective active ingredient herbicide treatment preparation solution were consumed in carrying out these tasks. The elimination of weeds is carried out through herbicide treatments, in accordance with the indications of Royal Decree 1311/2012 of September 14, which establishes the framework of action to achieve a sustainable use of phytosanitary products.Cleaning of fruits and molassesIntensive cleaning in areas where there is dirt from trees, such as mulberry, robinia, jacarandas and tipuanas, is added to the fumigation and clearing work.Contrary to the rainy months of March and April, which favored the abundant flood of weeds, the arrival of good weather now and the absence of rains this past month, accentuate the appearance of aphids in the woodland, causing the molasses, liquid that remains stuck on the pavement. To remove it, the application of water and degreaser is used.

In areas of greater impact, the scrubbing hydro-cleaner passes over it to remove and lift the substance before treating it with the soap solution.

This is applied with back pack equipment and, once applied, the high pressure hydrocleaning machines remove the dirt and adapt the area so that it is in perfect condition. "With this city-wide summer cleaning device, we intend to complete both the ordinary street cleaning service and the special clearing, fumigation and cleaning works that have been carried out since the start of the health crisis.

We continue to work with the commitment to providing a better service every day, "said Councilor Rebeca Pérez. For an optimal accomplishment of the task, the public will be informed in a timely manner, through the publication of the action calendar on the sustainable Murcia website and the social networks attached to this page. Likewise, informative posters will be placed in the places of action, and said specific areas, the areas of action, will be signposted to prevent third-party access to work areas. In the development of the work, the necessary sanitary security measures have been included as personal protective equipment and tasks have been planned so that there is a safety distance both between the operators and between them and the neighbors.
