We can take the name change of the Juan Carlos I avenue to the September plenary (04/08/2020)

The purple formation initiative responds to the need for the people who are reflected in the street map of the municipality to be representatives of exemplary and good work.

In the opinion of the councilors of Podemos, the king emeritus has failed to fulfill that premise.Given the latest known information on the accounts of the king emeritus, Juan Carlos I, who was head of state for nearly forty years, and after his decision to leave Spain for all this, the municipal group Podemos, composed of councilmen Ginés Ruiz Maciá and Clara Martínez Baeza, will take to the September plenary session a motion requesting that Juan Carlos I Avenue change its name.

"His exemplariness is in question and, while we wait for the resolution of justice, if there is one, we are obliged to remove the former monarch from the street as he no longer represents the democratic values ??expected of a representative of the state, "said the group's spokesman, Ginés Ruiz Maciá.The revelations about the accounts of the emeritus have uncovered a presumed network of commissions and secret businesses that "are not tolerable for those who must be an example both in form and in fact." Its inviolability situation and the limited margin of maneuver that the Spanish justice has to investigate the Bourbon accounts make it essential that other types of actions be carried out that serve "to publicly reject the work of a head of state who in the decline of his life is punctuated by alleged cases of corruption that do nothing more than tarnish the image of our country and throw to the ground all that has been achieved in these more than forty years of democracy.

"For all this, and with the intention of improving the image of the municipality of Murcia, "we will take to the plenary session of September a motion in which we will urge the municipal corporation to withdraw the name of Juan Carlos I from which it has become one of the main roads of the city ".

The goal, according to Ruiz Maciá, is that "our street guide does not bear the name of a person who is lurking in the shadow of corruption and of ways of working more typical of another regime."
