New horizontal signaling along 4,000 meters for the Murcia Río bike path and pedestrian crossings (27/07/2020)

| The work has been carried out on the left bank of the Río Segura, from the Manterola footbridge to the Fica bridge | The councilor for Urban Development and Administration Modernization, José Guillen, has visited today the horizontal signaling works that are being carried out this week on the left bank of the Segura River, along about 2 km in length: 2 km of bike path and 2 km of green footpath. The work has been carried out in the urban section, in the areas of access to the mota -environment of stairs and ramps- from the Manterola footbridge to the La Fica bridge, both in the bicycle lane and in the pedestrian crossing.In this way, the bicycle lane signs have been reinforced following the criteria of the Bicivías de Murcia, which consist of marking the lines in red and giving way and the pictograms of the bicycles in white.The pedestrian promenade has been marked with different blank pictograms for pregnant women, canoeists, people with children and pets, as well as the Murcia Río de azul logo.Murcia Río will enhance the Segura landscape over 2 million m2The 'Murcia Río' project is already a reality, and in its first phase an extension of more than 50,000m2 of green areas and naturalized spaces has already been opened to Murcia, recreating the Huerta and recovering the riverside vegetation.

It is the biggest environmental transformation of the last decade, becoming the largest river and leisure park in the municipality.The 'Murcia Río' social and environmental recovery project is made up of the Alameda del Malecón, de las Cuatro Piedras, the bike path of la mota del río, the intelligent lighting of the channel installed throughout its urban section; as well as the right and left banks of the river, the River Walk and the Visitors Center of La Contraparada.The continuation of this transformation project continues with the works of the Teniente Flomesta Garden, which will be completed in a few weeks and will offer 8,200 m2 for rest and family leisure with views of the river.Murcia Río II will extend along 27 km of riverbed, covering 14 districts, from Contraparada to Alquerías and El Raal, and will entail the creation of new areas of leisure, sport and culture throughout its route.

This project continues to be developed with new green areas and river trails that will enhance the Segura landscape over 2 million m2.Three new footbridges will connect both banks of the river at the height of Murcia Water Park-Museum, Soto Garden-Artillery Barracks and Alameda-Barriomar Garden.Among the actions that will be carried out in the meanders, the restoration of old specks, the creation of naturalized parks in green areas next to the channel, the creation of agroecological river terraces and new access roads to the river space stand out.
