Murcians premiere the first Municipal Housing Office in Abenarabi (27/07/2020)

| The new headquarters has 4 service points - three posts to serve the public and a fourth independent office for personal interviews, keeping the privacy of the user– | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, inaugurated this morning the new Municipal Housing Office, located on the ground floor of the Abenarabi multi-service municipal building.

A new space that will offer specialized information on housing and from where all the programs of this service will be developed.“With the opening of this office, a new social commitment from the Murcia City Council materializes, which, in terms of housing, has involved an investment of 670,000 euros since the declaration of the state of alarm in rental aid for families affected by the crisis ”, highlighted José Ballesta, who added that“ this action is framed within the Plan for Economic and Social Reactivation of the Murcia City Council ”.The exemption of the rent payment for the tenants of the Municipal Housing Park for four months, as well as the reactivation of the Murcia Alquila plan –which allows different homes located in the neighborhoods of Murcia to be made available to families– are other initiatives of the Economic and Social Reactivation Plan, which includes 83 measures that prioritize fiscal and social aid to the sectors most affected by the crisis.For her part, Councilor Paqui Pérez has shown her satisfaction because “with the opening of this office we make one of the challenges that we have set for ourselves from the Housing service a reality.

It is a physical space from which to coordinate all public housing policies, a space that will allow us to offer citizens personalized attention.

”Likewise, the head of the Department emphasized the need to promote policies in such an important area, especially in the moments that “we are living as a consequence of the crisis.

We must do everything possible to implement municipal initiatives that allow us to guarantee access to housing for vulnerable groups, in decent and accessible conditions, "he stressed.4 points of attentionAs for the new office, of 30 square meters, it has three face-to-face customer service posts, where legal, administrative and technical issues are dealt with - inquiries about subsidies, registration in the Municipal Register of Housing Claimants, applications for rent reduction-, among others.Likewise, the office presents a fourth post for personal interviews, keeping the user's privacy.

Specifically, the attendance hours are from 9:00 a.m.

to 2:00 p.m.Management of aid to more than 3,000 familiesThe City Council responds to more than 3,000 families who use the Housing service through the different aid programs.

On the one hand, the City Council manages more than 1,000 homes in the municipal park, in which 1,000 families reside.

Most of them are located in the Infante neighborhood (325), in the Espírito Santo neighborhood of Espinardo (368), El Palmar (61), Beniaján (41), La Ñora (44), Aljucer (21), Los Ramos ( 39), Javalí Nuevo (23), Monteagudo (13), Patiño (12), Churra (9), Corvera (8) and the rest are scattered throughout the different districts of Murcia.In parallel, the City Council serves almost 1,000 other people who use the Housing service to receive financial aid.Likewise, the City Council is working to give priority response to another 1,099 vulnerable families, through new aid programs that will be presented soon, as well as to respond to new non-vulnerable applicants, such as young people who want to emancipate themselves, among other groups.800 requests since the reopening of face-to-face careSince the reopening of the face-to-face attention of the Housing Service, carried out on June 8 under all the safety and hygiene protocols, the City Council has received 800 requests to request subsidies for rental housing.

In person, 548 people have been attended, while 1,197 people have been contacted by phone, 109 have been contacted by WhatsApp, and 12 inquiries by email.A website with a videoconference serviceThe City Council is finalizing the creation of another channel of the Housing service, the new portal www.serviv.es, which will be available from September.

This website will be accompanied by a new corporate image, a more recognizable graphic identity for the user, "a new strategy that will improve the visibility that citizens have of all those measures and aids that, in public housing, we are promoting from the Consistory ”, explained the head of the Department, Paqui Pérez.This web portal will be reinforced by the social networks of the Housing service, where the user can find out about all the new aid programs that the City Council plans to promote.

The implementation of the new channels will allow the user to request information in person, by telephone and telematically.Murcia RentOne of the programs that will be managed exclusively by the new Municipal Housing Office is 'Murcia Alquila'.

Specifically, this program is developed through a housing stock in which the City Council facilitates the rent through a series of measures –subsidies, insurance contracts, etc.-, which provide legal certainty to landlords and tenants, the Administration acting as an intermediary between both parties.
