The City Council and Unimar address in a course the keys to local urban agendas (23/07/2020)

| This is one of the training actions that the Murcian consistory offers within the 37th edition of the courses and summer activities of the International University of the Sea | The Murcia City Council offers five training actions within the summer courses and activities of the 37th edition of the International University of the Sea (Unimar), which will take place between September and October.Among the titles is 'Urban Agendas: a new way of understanding local governance', which will be held from September 21 to 25 in person at the Moneo Building in Murcia.

The registration period is now open.The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, met this morning with María Dolores Muñoz and Manuel Pato, president and secretary of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, to discuss the content of the course, in which They will cover the different multilevel participatory governance methodologies and will show the plans for the implementation and start-up of Local Urban Agendas."At the moment we are immersed in the elaboration of the Urban Agenda Murcia 2030, therefore, these actions contribute to the creation of spaces for dialogue and sharing with experts in the field in order to generate mutual enrichment", the mayor points out. In this way, policy makers, technical personnel from the Local Administration, university experts, the ministry and other international organizations will reflect on sustainable and integrated urban development, making it possible to work in key local governance networks.The course is intended for university students, technicians from European programs, local development and project processing in general, as well as anyone else interested in the subject.This training will take place over five sessions, one per day, which will deal with the following themes: Session 1: 'Global framework of the Urban Agenda.

From the SDGs to the Spanish Urban Agenda '; Session 2: 'The European Urban Agenda and territorial cooperation'; Session 3: 'New opportunities within the framework of the Spanish Urban Agenda'; Session 4: 'The Urban Agendas in Spain.

Regional and local urban agendas'; Session 5: 'Action plans of the Spanish Urban Agenda.

The Murcia 2030 Agenda '.Murcia, pilot experience of the Spanish Urban AgendaThe municipality of Murcia, together with the municipalities of A Coruña, Castellón and Alfaro, has been selected by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda as a pilot experience in the Action Plan of the Spanish Urban Agenda in order to create a document that represents the roadmap for the transformation of urban spaces towards a more sustainable model.The consistory is already working on the elaboration of this strategy that will serve as an example for other local entities and municipalities to implement their respective action plans.In the words of Mercedes Bernabé, "the elaboration of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda is an opportunity to boost the growth and development of the municipality, since it will become the roadmap for sustainable urban policies for the next 10 years."Five courses on various topicsThe Murcia City Council collaborates in the 37th edition of Unimar with the launch of a total of five courses, which are as follows: 'Sustainable management of the vegetable garden of Murcia', 'II Edition Political communication and campaign strategies',' Urban Agendas: a new way of understanding local governance ',' Leisure and Disability: a path towards inclusion.

This year, due to the Covid-19, the classroom activity has been delayed until September and some of the courses have changed to online mode. The Unimar courses will be held in a total of twelve locations, thanks to the collaboration of the different municipalities of the Region, among which is the Murcia consistory.
