Joaquín Martínez Cánovas will treat death, light, the passage of time and the mark in his exhibition ´Splendor Lucis Aeternae´ of Cultural Reactives (22/07/2020)

| This project, selected thanks to this municipal initiative, will be exhibited at the Puertas de Castilla in September | The Department of Culture and Heritage Recovery is already working on the programming of the first selected projects of the 'Cultural Reagents' program.Thus, the Puertas de Castilla will premiere next September 'Splendor Lucis Aeternae' by Joaquín Martínez Cánovas.This exhibition project, within the production support line, will talk about the concern for death.

Martínez Cánovas will deal with the rationality of concern for death before dying and that death afflicts some harm only to those who ask about it.Thus, visitors will be able to see a process of technical experimentation in which drawing, painting and sculpture dialogue with light and the projection of the Super 8, on topics related to death, light, the passage of time and the mark .The exhumation of the corpse of his grandfather caused Martínez Cánovas a concern that results in this project entitled Splendor Lucis Aeternae that closes his doctoral thesis focused on endurance in time, death and eternity, and which is titled "Identity, imprint and revision of the concept of death in figurative artistic creation in the Region of Murcia (2000-2019)".About 70,000 eurosAs a whole, the 'Cultural Reactives' program will involve an investment of over 700,000 euros for the cultural sector, promoting the immediate hiring of the selected cultural initiatives.

Specifically, the City Council has allocated 69,170 euros to the audiovisual production line 'Puertas de Castilla' - doubling the initial amount -This line includes different audiovisual disciplines, such as sound art, exhibitions, short films, open rehearsals, videodance, etc.

15 projects have been selected, of the 88 presented."The 'Cultural Reactives' program has been recognized in Europe as an example of good practice, to boost the cultural sector and respond to the difficulties that our artists are facing due to the health crisis," said Jesús Pacheco , who recalled that "the European Commission has chosen Murcia to lead the roadmap for culture in Europe until the 2030 horizon".
