Murcia will have four new deterrents with 1,400 spaces, which will be linked to public transport and clean means (22/07/2020)

| These new parking lots that will be enabled in the main north and south accesses of the city next year will reduce traffic in the urban center, leaving emit 1,800 tons of carbon dioxide annually | Four new dissuasive car parks with a total of 1,400 spaces, which will be located at strategic accesses to the North and South areas of the city and will connect with public transport lines and new clean means, will allow traffic congestion in the center of Murcia to be reduced and reduce emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere.The execution of these four projects, the drafting of which has already begun, has been one of the issues addressed this morning at the Urbamusa Board of Directors, in which it has become aware of the different actions and measures that are being carried out since the municipal company, and which has been chaired by the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and which was attended by the Minister for Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga.Murcia will thus have four new dissuasive car parks with 1,400 spaces, which will add to the municipality's network of public car parks, making a total surface area of ??32,883 new public square meters available to Murcia.The car parks, which will open next year, will be interconnected with the urban area through public transport and will have 100% clean individual means of mobility.Specifically, they will be located on Juan de Borbón avenues –in the hamlet of Santiago and Zaraiche–, Almirante Loaysa –in Zarandona-, Miguel Ángel Blanco –in the Santiago El Mayor neighborhood– and Ambassador Inocencio Arias.Clean Air: 1,800 tons of CO2 will no longer be emittedThis project is part of the City Council's Metropolitan Mobility Plan, and is aligned with the Clean Air municipal strategy, since the creation of the four new parking lots will reduce traffic in the city center, ceasing to emit 1,800 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

It is an area with good infrastructure and services, well connected and with a young population.A deterrent of 8,600 m2 for residents from Casillas, Monteagudo and Cabezo de TorresFinally, the project includes a car park on Avenida Almirante Loaysa, in Zarandona, which will especially benefit residents from Casillas, Monteagudo and Cabezo de Torres, linking from said car park with public transport and facilitating a new access to the center of the city.The car park will house 355 spaces, of which 9 will be for people with reduced mobility, occupying an area of ??8,621 square meters.

In addition, Juan de Borbón Avenue - very close to this parking lot - already has a tram, so intermodality is guaranteed.A parking lot of almost 5,500 m2 in Juan de BorbónOne of the parking lots will be located on Juan de Borbón Avenue, in the district of Santiago and Zaraiche; a high capacity artery and one of the main entrance areas to the city.

It will have an area of ??5,476 square meters and a capacity for 234 spaces, of which 5 will be for people with reduced mobility.This car park has been designed in an area with good infrastructure and services, well connected and with a young population.

In addition, it will connect drivers from neighboring towns and districts with the urban center of Murcia through the tram, which is very close, and through new offers of shared electric mobility services, such as bicycles, scooters and electric motorcycles.376 new parking spaces on Avenida Inocencio AriasAnother location will be Avenida Inocencio Arias, located between Juan Carlos I and Juan de Borbón avenues, both with high capacity and two of the main entrance areas to the city; environment characterized by presenting residential areas and offices in its vicinity.

This deterrent will occupy an area of ??8,933 square meters, with a capacity for 376 seats, of which 9 will be for people with reduced mobility.More than 600 seats are already available in deterrentsMurcia already has 650 spaces in guarded and open 24-hour dissuasive car parks: 104 next to the Fuenteblanca school in Juan de Borbón, 346 next to La Arrixaca, 100 spaces enabled in La Condomina and another hundred open in the City of Justice.
