Rodent control and disinfection work against cockroaches continues this week in the urban area and districts (20/07/2020)

| The operators are working, among other places, on Jaime I Avenue, Gutiérrez Mellado, Doctor José Tapia Sanz and General Yagüe streets and in the districts of El Esparragal, Cobatillas, La Ñora, Era Alta and Espinardo | The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Sports and Health, continues this week with the work on rodent control and disinfection against cockroaches both in the urban area and in the districts.This action is carried out throughout the summer by the Municipal Health Service to prevent the appearance of pests throughout the municipal territory.In 12 enclaves of the cityThis week the operators will work in sector 5 of the city, which includes the following avenues, streets, walks and squares.

There are twelve in total: Jaime I El Conquistador, Lieutenant General Gutiérrez Mellado, Doctor José Tapia Sanz, Antonete Gálvez, Avenue of Fame, General Yagüe, Paseo de Garay, Plaza Cruz Roja, Lieutenant Flomesta, Martínez Tornel, Gran Vía Escultor Francisco Salzillo and Fuensanta square.Likewise, the works will be carried out in the districts of Cobatillas, La Ñora and Era Alta and will finish those that had been running in both El Esparragal and Espinardo.Action on the sewerageThese treatments are carried out on a scheduled basis in the sewer system of the municipality of Murcia to prevent the proliferation of cockroaches.The Councilor for Health, Felipe Coello, recalled that "in the fight against these insects and rodents, which are transmitters of many diseases, citizen collaboration plays a fundamental role.

This service is carried out by a contract that has divided the municipality into sectors, in which the 58 districts and the eight districts of the capital are grouped.Five teams with two people eachThe interventions are carried out by five teams, of two people each: four work on an annual schedule; and a fifth is in charge of attending to specific notices.The operators intervene in gardens, ditches, schools, municipal markets, municipal centers, and carry out the revision and replacement of baits.Similarly, during the summer season, the Emergency Plan Against the Tiger Mosquito continues, using different methods and means, such as drones and a helicopter for areas of difficult access.
