A 1,000 m2 canopy covers the La Seda amphitheater creating a new space for Murcians that can be enjoyed throughout the year (16/07/2020)

The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Administration Modernization directed by José Guillén, has made available to all Murcians and visitors a pedestrian axis of 70,000 m2 that connects the La Seda, El Rocío gardens, the Salitre and the Huerto López-Ferrer.These large green areas, and emblematic of Murcia, are prepared to be enjoyed 365 days a year, at any time, since the Shadow Plan has also been developed in them.This is the case of the La Seda garden, where an awning of about 1,000 m2 has been installed that covers the outdoor amphitheater located in this garden, positioning it as the largest open-air auditorium in the Region.It is made up of 4 candles, at a height of 7 meters, which have special characteristics to protect citizens from sunlight, are fireproof and also allow air to pass through so that this space can be used throughout the year."The objective is to create shaded spaces that make them more comfortable, protecting residents from inclement weather, thus facilitating the enjoyment of the little ones, citizen participation and sociocultural meetings, in addition to increasing the number of effective hours of use by families from Murcia "José Guillén highlighted.In this way, the awnings are present in the three western gardens, which are also surrounded by natural shade, creating a new plant lung with more than 1,200 trees and palm trees.This urban improvement has led to the implementation of actions to promote biodiversity with new plantations of trees and shrubs of the Plan Foresta 2030, adding a total of 1,278 specimens of trees (947) and palm trees (311) among the three gardens.In Silk, around the amphitheater, the climbing plant boungainvillea glabra 'sanderiana' has also been planted, which covers the structure of the central pergola, providing an improvement to the landscape.A wooden staircase and the emblematic Silk fireplace as the protagonistAmong the works carried out in the Silk garden, the installation of a new wooden bleachers next to the lake stands out, which enhances the emblematic fireplace in the garden, creating a new living space from which to observe the fireplace and the pond, which has wooden deckchairs and a new picnic area.In addition, new children's wooden games of high resistance and durability have been enabled, integrated with nature - climbing elements, water and sand -, forming a new recreation area with different pavement textures, such as sand, gravel, artificial grass and games painted on the floor.Thematic children's play area based on the sea and the boats in the Parque del RocíoThe City Council has also worked on the recovery of the Rocío garden, a green area of ??more than 8,325 square meters that aspires to become a benchmark for families, since this park has innovative children's games, as well as more shady areas and break.

It is a project of great importance for the residents, as the Plaza del Rocío is located between the Salitre and La Seda gardens, creating a green corridor that connects both spaces.One of the new elements that stand out is the thematic children's game based on the sea, boats and aquatic animals.

In addition, this green environment has opened with a new 'playground' formed by undulating topographies, imitating curved geometries of striking colors and creating a system of textures and colors.

Another novelty is the lounge chairs that have been installed to rest in the shade of this park, where colored awnings have been placed.Likewise, the drip irrigation system has been enabled to reduce evaporation losses, regulating the flow and frequency in order to provide the right amount of water to each type of plant.A botanical garden and a viewpoint in SalitreIn parallel, the City Council has worked on the complete renovation of the Salitre garden, which has a new bleacher-viewpoint over the lake, as well as a botanical garden on the island of the park.

New shady spaces for resting and children's play areas have also been created, such as a 'play ground' and sand and water games for the little ones.In addition, the Salitre lake has been renovated and now has a new, more powerful pumping equipment.

Its draft has also been reduced, different improvement actions have been carried out in elements such as the central duck island and in the perimeter railing, and low consumption lights have been installed to illuminate the area.
