The PSOE asks the PP to demonstrate that young people care and facilitate access to housing (15/07/2020)

| The Municipal Socialist Group asks Ballesta to recover the 88 abandoned homes in Sangonera and allocate them to young people with few resources | "They are apartments that are empty and mostly finished, they have been standing for more than 6 years, completely abandoned and it is the duty of the City Council to turn them into an opportunity for the youth of our municipality," says Councilwoman Carmen Fructuoso.Unemployment, job insecurity, lack of employment, the Covid-19 crisis ...

are some of the many problems that young people in the municipality of Murcia are currently facing.

These circumstances, on many occasions, become insurmountable obstacles that make it impossible for our young people to access a home in which they can emancipate themselves and live independently from their parents.

"It is clear that access to housing is one of the main challenges for the majority of our young people, who do not have it easy at all and even less with the situation we are going through", explains the socialist councilor Carmen Fructuoso."Murcia City Council should be able to offer young people in its municipality some kind of support or solution to such a serious problem, but inactivity and passivity regarding this issue has been its road map," protests Fructuoso.

"In November 2014 they announced that they were going to implement a Municipal Accessible Housing Plan in Sangonera la Verde that would allow 88 young people registered in the municipality to access a new apartment for rent at balanced prices," reports the mayor, who He adds that, “however, this never happened, and the case of Sangonera la Verde is just one example that shows the government team's laziness regarding this issue.

They are not serving young people.

They don't solve their problems.

”"Right now there are 88 homes in the Detinsa Urbanization, in Sangonera la Verde, which are empty and mostly finished, have been standing and completely abandoned for more than 6 years and could be used for young housing, why doesn't the City Council start there? ? ” Fruitful proposes.

"We believe that the local government team should resume negotiations with the construction company and work so that these houses become an opportunity for our young people as soon as possible," he adds.

“In addition, beyond these 88 homes, the housing bubble left our municipality with an incredible stock of empty homes, without any tenants, that could perfectly be used to support our young people.

There are chances, all that remains is for the government team to put the will and the necessary work to provide solutions to their neighbors, ”reproaches the socialist councilor."This should be the first action in the line of work that the Department of Housing follows.

Our young people need their closest administration not to abandon them but to push them to start a life project.

They cannot live in complete uncertainty and without aspirations for growth and improvement ”, explains Fructuoso. In this sense, the Municipal Socialist Group will present a motion in the next plenary session, in which it will ask the municipal government "to resume negotiations with the construction company and work so that young people can access these 88 homes as soon as possible," reports Fructuoso.
