The PSOE proposes to provide aid to disadvantaged families with children from 8 to 17 years old to play sports in basic schools (14/07/2020)

| Councilor Enrique Lorca presents to the next plenary session a motion so that no boy or girl in the municipality is left out of a sports club because your family can't afford it | The Municipal Socialist Group warns that the pandemic is likely to leave an economic outlook that will increase the risk of social exclusion for many families in the municipality.

For this reason, it insists that the City Council, as the administration closest to the people, must put all its resources so that "we can go through this stage with the fewest number of people affected, avoiding as far as possible that no one is left behind", explains the socialist councilor Enrique Lorca, who thinking of children and young people between the ages of 8 and 17, proposes that aid be called so that they can pay for basic sports clubs, teams or sports schools if their families are in financial difficulties. "We cannot allow the youngest group in our society to suffer the consequences of an unforeseen crisis that they neither understand nor can solve, so that they continue with their routine and with their sports practice is the best way for them to live this moment without being victims of the same, "says the mayor, who will take a motion to this effect to the next plenary session. In this regard, he states that "although before the pandemic the cost of sports activities could have an exclusion effect for people with fewer resources, after the COVID-19 crisis the number of people affected by this situation will foreseeably increase due to the economic situation to which many families will be facing.

Now more than ever it is essential that we put all the means at our disposal so that no minor in the municipality of Murcia has to abandon sports activities due to the economic position of the family environment in which they live " For this reason, from the Municipal Socialist Group we believe that it is necessary for the Murcia City Council to draw up bases, financially endow, launch and convene annually a series of financial aid for girls and boys and young people from 8 to 17 years old (both inclusive ), who are in an unfavorable socio-economic situation, to facilitate the practice of sports outside school hours, in the field of basic sports entities. This initiative aims to help integrate minors into standard sports practice outside school hours in basic sports entities and that the economic situation that their families may be experiencing is not a reason for exclusion in the child's development. Lorca concludes that "it is not necessary for us to describe the many benefits that practicing sport has for all of society, specifically for the youngest, because it is well known.

For this reason, it is in our hands, those of the City Council, to prevent a boy or girl is left without their sports school because their family cannot afford it.
