Murcia City Council improves the road safety of the Avenida de Alicante with the installation of new LED lights (12/07/2020)

| In this way, 50,640 kilos of CO2 are also no longer emitted into the atmosphere, thus reducing the environmental impact and footprint carbon | The City Council, through the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration led by José Guillén, continues with the work of improving public lighting in different streets and districts of the municipality of Murcia, within the Murcia Smart City strategy, which advocates in this case to favor the improvement of the environment, the security of the area and contribute to the improvement of the quality of the residents of the municipality.This week, the works are being carried out on Avenida de Alicante, with the replacement of 165 light points, which go from having a total power of 45,375 Kw to 12,375 Kw, which will mean an annual economic saving of 14,350 euros and an energy saving of 102,300 Kwh.The new light points that have been replaced correspond to 25 in Murcia, 60 in Zarandona, 30 in Puente Tocinos, 32 in Casillas and 18 in Monteagudo.In this way, 50,640 kilos of CO2 are also no longer emitted into the atmosphere, reducing the environmental impact and carbon footprint."These improvements make it possible to fulfill the commitments made by the City Council to curb climate change, but they are also carried out with the safety of citizens on the road in mind, providing it with more light and thus making it more visible and perceivable to neighbors "José Guillén highlighted.The City Council is committed to energy efficiency, saving more than 100,000 euros in the last 6 monthsThe City Council has installed more than 1,600 new light points in half a year, reducing the power by 236,922 W and reducing 364 kilos of CO2 into the atmosphere.The actions carried out in the last 6 months have reduced 236,922 W of power and an energy saving of 734,458 Kwh.

Likewise, the installation of the new light points in the different places of the municipality has meant a reduction of 364 kilos of CO2 into the atmosphere and an economic saving of 102,824 euros.The actions have been carried out on the Alcantarilla, Patiño, Sangonera la Seca and Murcia roads, among which are those of Muralla and Pintor Sobejano streets, Los Pinos avenue, Marina Española avenue, La Fama avenue and Juan Carlos avenue I, among others.More than 4,000 new points of light in the last yearThe Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration has renewed in the last year more than 4,000 points of light distributed in about 200 locations in Murcia and districts.Specifically, it is 1,878 luminaires and 2,279 lamps with which it has been possible to reduce the emission of 751,257 Kg of CO2 into the atmosphere and save 212,477 euros."In this way, the Murcia City Council assumes its commitment to curb climate change, as this technology reduces consumption and the emission of carbon dioxide, along with other measures, such as the Foresta Plan or the Clean Air Strategy", José Guillén has highlighted
