Murcia joins the Action Plan of the Spanish Urban Agenda 2030 (09/07/2020)

| The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government has presented the latest progress of the Murcian consistory in the implementation of this document, as well as its corporate image for the next ten years | The municipality of Murcia joins as a pilot experience the Action Plan of the Spanish Urban Agenda, promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, for the implementation of a document that represents the roadmap for the transformation of urban spaces towards a more sustainable model.In this way, the Murcian consistory will work together with the state body in the elaboration of a strategy, whose contents, methodology and system of indicators serve as a model for other local entities and municipalities in the implementation of their respective action plans.This commitment will materialize with the signing of the protocol of action between the General Secretariat of Urban Agenda and Housing and the City Council, which will take place in the coming weeks and will last two years. Thus, the councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, announced this morning at the presentation of the progress of the City Council in the implementation of the Urban Agenda Murcia 2030.In this sense, in the words of the mayor, "we are immersed in the preparation of a document that will set the course for Murcia, as a sustainable, structured and more cohesive city."Main actionsMurcia, together with the municipalities of A Coruńa, Castellón and Alfaro, will be a pilot experience to guide other municipalities in the elaboration of their respective strategies.In this way, the main action will be the elaboration of an action plan that responds to the methodology and objectives proposed by the Spanish Urban Agenda itself."This proposal will involve an exchange of knowledge and experiences between the different levels of public administration, a collaboration that will also not entail any type of consideration, either legal or financial," explains Mercedes Bernabé.The planned actions will be supervised by a Monitoring Commission that will have at least two members appointed by the General Secretary of Urban Agenda and Housing, and two others representing the Murcia City Council.The main function of this body is to account for the work being carried out, the proposal and the design of measures.

The Monitoring Commission will meet, ordinarily, at least once a semester, in order to evaluate the development of the objectives achieved.Urban Agenda Murcia 2030The Murcia City Council is immersed in the elaboration of the Urban Agenda Murcia 2030 strategy, a strategic document that will allow the identification of sustainable urban policies for the next ten years.The diagnosis for the preparation of this document, which will reveal the priorities for action for the next decade, began last February after the meeting with the Social Council of the City.From there, a participation process began with the holding of interviews with key stakeholders in the municipality.

In this way, a technical team from the University of Murcia has been in charge throughout these months of the meetings, which began with the members of the Social Council; later it was the turn of socioeconomic experts of the territory; and, finally, the different political groups that make up the municipal corporation.This phase ended last Monday with the last of the interviews and the next step will be the holding of the first round of working groups with the members of the Social Council, which will take place next week, from July 13 to 16.Once the diagnosis has been made, the Urban Agenda Murcia 2030 strategy will be formulated, which will be validated by the Plenary Session of the Social Council in the last quarter of 2020.

At that moment, the execution of the agreed actions will begin.Corporate image Agenda Urbana Murcia 2030The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, today presented the image of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda, framed in the process of implementing this strategy.Thus, a logo has been designed with the same color range and in accordance with the most representative elements that make up the image of the Murcia City Council.
