The creation of more organic gardens will promote sustainable development in the municipality (07/07/2020)

| This is one of the lines of action that includes the renewal of the collaboration agreement that the Murcia City Council has closed with the Sustainable Development Foundation | The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Sustainable Development and Huerta, headed by mayor Antonio Navarro, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Sustainable Development Foundation.

The matter was approved by the Governing Board at its last meeting.The agreement is part of the environmental project that the Government Team has been following for the past few years to reinforce sustainability.The Councilor for Sustainable Development, Antonio Navarro, has pointed out that "this agreement is in line with the environmental project that we have been developing in the Government Team for the last few years and that seeks to improve the environment with measures that reduce the emission of polluting particles to the atmosphere".One of the lines of action included in the signed agreement is for the foundation to support the Murcian City Council in training and advising on the creation and maintenance of ecological family and / or school gardens.Environmental awareness, training and education activitiesThe main objective of the approved agreement is to establish a collaboration framework for the common realization of environmental awareness, training and education activities at the Fuente de Columbares Environmental and Solar Energy Center.Solar energy in the domestic and business environmentThe agreement will also promote disclosure for the integration of photovoltaic solar energy in both the domestic and business spheres.

The budget allocation approved for the current year of 2020 is 22,300 euros.The agreement concluded with the Sustainable Development Foundation endorses the commitment of collaboration between the City Council and this organization, which have developed policies for dissemination and awareness of environmental sustainability since 2016.The new agreement will allow the continuation of the work that is being carried out and will allow expanding the activities that are underway and that have made it possible to materialize important advances in the municipality in matters such as the promotion of energy saving, the use of renewable energy, compensation of the ecological footprint, the execution of educational tasks and the promotion of sustainable development and environmental awareness.'My Cole Saves with Energy'The joint work of the City Council and the Sustainable Development Foundation has allowed the expansion of the project entitled 'My Cole Saves with Energy' to twenty schools during the second semester of 2019.Similarly, it enabled the expansion of educational activities at the Columbares Fountain Center during the months of July and August.

Likewise, the agreement allowed the development of different sustainability projects in the municipality of Murcia during the first quarter of this year 2020, activities that were suspended with the declaration of the State of Alarm in mid-March.This year Fundación Desarrollo Sostenible has promoted training and advisory activities.

Each action has lasted 9 hours and has been aimed at maintaining the ecological gardens that exist in the municipality.Monitoring CommissionThe monitoring of the actions expressly included in the agreement signed today will be carried out by means of a commission in which the two signatory parties will be represented.The Sustainable Development Foundation is a non-profit entity whose main purposes are education, research, training, information, training, dissemination and awareness of environmental and ecological values, as well as the use and management of renewable energy resources, the rational use of water and the generation of attitudes and actions aimed at counteracting the loss of soil, among others.
