The improvement works in the Murcian schools start the countdown to their reopening in September (06/07/2020)

| José Ballesta supervises the works that are being carried out in the Cristo del Valle school, in Torreagüera, framed within the Summer Plan of Works in Educational Centers 2020 | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Education and Nursery Schools, Belén López, and the Councilor for Pedanías y Barrios, Marco Antonio Fernández, supervised this morning the maintenance and improvement works that are being carried out in the Cristo del Valle school, in Torreagüera, which are framed within the Summer Plan of Works in Educational Centers 2020 and suppose the development of this center for its opening in September."The City Council has allocated an injection of more than 2 million euros to the Summer Plan for Works in Educational Centers 2020, which is divided into two major blocks: maintenance and improvement of the services and benefits of educational centers and, on the other hand , investment and renovation of sports facilities ”, highlighted José Ballesta.Specifically, this plan encompasses different actions in a total of 80 public schools in Murcia and its districts, and is endowed with more than 2 million euros.142 students and 9 units of Infant and PrimaryThe Cristo del Valle school has had 142 students during the 2019-2020 academic year, spread over nine Infant and Primary units.

In this center, municipal operators are carrying out tasks for the renovation of elements of the supply network, as well as repairs in exterior areas and interior spaces –such as repainting walls, facades and rooms–, renovation of the flooring in the dining room and the school kitchen, replacement of tiles, sink faucets, the sign labeled with the name of the school.

etc.The City Council has allocated an investment of 34,739.60 to the actions in this school.Tuning of 80 public schoolsThe works of this plan are being carried out throughout the summer, leaving the centers in perfect condition for the development of teaching activity.

Specifically, a budget of 1,258,183 euros will be allocated to this block.In addition to Torreagüera, the maintenance and improvement of services and benefits will be carried out at the Nuestra Señora de las Maravillas (Los Martínez del Puerto), Juan Carlos I (Llano de Brujas), Mariano Aroca (Murcia), Our Lady of Candelaria (Valladolises), Rafael Nicolás Raya (Sangonera La Verde), Nuestra Señora de Atocha (Santiago and Zaraiche), CEIP Santiago el Mayor (Santiago el Mayor), CEIP El Puntal (El Puntal), San José de Calasanz (Alquerías), San Andrés, (Murcia-San Andrés), San Félix (Zarandona), Saavedra Fajardo (Algezares), Santa Rosa de Lima (El Palmar), CPEI Bas Isabel Bellvis (Corvera), Carolina Codorniu (Churra), CEIP Santo Ángel, (Santo Ángel), Hellín Lasheras, (Javalí Viejo), Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles (El Esparragal), Torreateatinos (El Raal), and CEIB Arteaga (Sucina).Among the actions to be carried out are the repair of the roofs damaged by DANA as well as of the interior areas affected, the reform of the toilets, replacement and renovation of doors, specific repairs of masonry, plumbing and carpentry, replacement of deteriorated elements , etc.This block also encompasses the actions promoted by the Municipal Boards, from which a series of maintenance and improvement actions will be undertaken in 11 public schools distributed in Murcian districts, such as in the centers of Alquerías, Los Garres, Sucina, El Raal , San José de la Vega, Barriomar-La Purísima, Sangonera La Seca, Aljucer, Gea and Truyols, Rincón de Seca, Santa Cruz and La Alberca.New covers in the centers of neighborhoods and districtsWithin the budget for the improvement of schools, the City Council has allocated an investment of 578,885 to the installation of new covers on the sports courts of three educational centers, allowing schoolchildren to use these facilities throughout the year, as well as to the creation of new direct accesses to schools from public roads.This action is part of the Extraordinary Plan of Investment in Pedanías and is being carried out in the public schools of Puebla de Soto, San Pío X and in the CEIP Nuestra Señora de Fátima, located in the hamlet of Beniaján.Renovation of sports facilities in 49 schoolsThe City Council has been working since January on improving the sports facilities of 49 educational centers in Murcia and its districts, a block for which a budget of 163,231 euros has been allocated.The replacement of sports courts, goal repair, laying and renovation of the pavement, as well as the repainting of the playing lines are some of the actions carried out since January and that will be carried out in the rest of the schools during the summer months.Withdrawal of asbestos from 20 public schoolsIn parallel, the City Council will carry out over the next four years the removal of fiber cement roofing from a total of 20 public schools in the municipality of Murcia, an action that is part of the City Council's infrastructure maintenance plan and which is endowed with 1,800,000 euros.The removal of asbestos from educational centers will take place in several phases: the first has already begun and consists of the renovation of the roofs in the most affected centers; a later one will take place in the rest of the schools, as well as in the construction elements that contain this material.
