The reform of four premises will create two new social work units and improve spaces used by social entities (06/07/2020)

| Murcia City Council invests 151,000 euros to enable buildings that will house the new UTS in Barrio del Progreso and San Pío X and improve the Barriomar day-stay center and the García Alix municipal center | The Murcia City Council, through the Department of Social and Family Rights, which is headed by the mayor Pilar Torres, is developing a plan to improve the facilities where social care is provided.The reform of four premises will allow the creation of two new social work units (UTS) and the improvement of the physical spaces that social entities use to carry out their work.For this purpose, the Government Team has made an investment of 151,000 euros.

One of the new social work units will open in the Barrio del Progreso.

The Department has renovated the facilities on Barba Street in which the social center for the elderly was housed before transferring it to other units.

The new UTS has a reception, a waiting room, an adapted toilet, two service offices, a meeting room, a staff toilet and air conditioning.Expansion plan for social work unitsThis action is part of the UTS expansion plan.

The total investment to condition the space has been 76,330.80 euros.The councilor for Social Rights, Pilar Torres, explained that "we are developing a plan to improve the facilities with the aim of improving the service we provide to citizens and provide organizations in the third sector with better spaces to carry out their important work "Another new social work unit will open in San Pío X, where a premises on Calle Neptuno has been renovated.

The property has a reception, a waiting room, an adapted toilet, two service offices, a file, a meeting room and awnings.

The investment has been 54,867.22 euros.Canopies to prevent water from enteringIn addition, the Murcian City Council has renovated the Barriomar day-stay center.

The works have consisted of placing canopies on the doors of the building to prevent the entry of water, which had caused moisture stains on the terrazzo pavement.

The City Council has allocated 7,871.05 euros to this task.The Department of Social Rights has also acted in the García Alix municipal center.

In the basement floor a new office has been enabled, in line with the existing spaces in the rest of the center.

The works have involved an investment of 11,803.21 euros.The initial intention is that this space be transferred to the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients of the Region of Murcia (AFAMUR) to carry out their work in a conditioned space.
