The summer season starts in 11 municipal swimming pools in Murcia and their districts (30/06/2020)

| The City Council opens today the facilities of El Palmar, Puente Tocinos, Rincón de Seca, La Ñora, Corvera, Aljucer, Sangonera la Verde, Sangonera la Seca, El Raal, Alquerías and Murcia Parque | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, attended this morning the opening of the Murcia Parque municipal swimming pool, which has been carried out following all the safety and hygiene protocols.

Among other measures, the capacity allowed in this pool has gone from 1,000 to 187 people."We go one step further in the opening of public spaces for Murcians with the start of the summer season in municipal swimming pools, which starts today in 11 swimming pools in Murcia and their districts and will last until September 6," he highlighted.

The opening hours are Tuesday to Friday, from 11:00 a.m.

to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 10:00 a.m.

to 8:00 p.m.Murcia Parque will have five aquatic lifeguard technicians during bathing hours and the rest of the district facilities will have two, in addition to the security service and the provision of semi-automatic defibrillators.

In addition, the Murcia Parque facilities will host training sessions for federated swimming teams from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm.Special cleaning and disinfection deviceThe City Council has deployed a special cleaning and disinfection device in municipal swimming pools, with frequent ventilation, cleaning and disinfection of spaces and materials, emphasizing those elements that are shared use or that can be touched by different people.

In this sense, the shared use areas will be cleaned and ventilated twice a day.Likewise, trash bins equipped with a pedal, as well as hydroalcoholic gels for washing and disinfecting hands that will be found at the entrance of the facilities, may be made available to users.Capacity reduction and exclusive card paymentThe summer season in swimming pools starts under all safety and hygiene protocols, applying measures such as reducing capacity, a minimum safety distance of 1.5 meters, payment by bank card and prohibition of the use of furniture, such as deckchairs, tables and chairs, among other elements.The only swimming pool that will not open its doors this summer will be the Espinardo swimming pool - it will be undergoing construction for the installation of the new cover, which will allow residents and the municipality's swimming clubs to use the facility throughout the year.Likewise, whenever it is not possible to maintain a safety distance, the use of a mask will be compulsory for people six years of age and older during all the time of movement between common spaces and at the times of entry and exit.Specifically, in accordance with the agreement of the Governing Council of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the City Council has agreed to reopen eleven municipal summer swimming pools with capacity limitations and hygienic measures.It should be noted that the capacity limitations have been made based on the solarium surface of each of the facilities and the recommendations given by the Autonomous Community.Sunbeds, tables and chairs are prohibitedOther of the agreed measures is that there will be no cloakroom service and the use of sun loungers, hammocks, chairs, tables and any type of furniture will be prohibited to avoid possible infections.

Likewise, it will not be allowed to use the water sources.Minors may use muffs exclusively, as long as an adult is with the minor in the water.

Users with disabilities may also use auxiliary flotation elements on an exceptional basis, always at the discretion of the sports technicians and when they meet hygienic conditions, also prohibiting shared use.

The use of sleeves or any type of float is not allowed in the 50-meter pool at Murcia Parque.Pools set-up deviceThe City Council has carried out a plan to fine-tune the 11 summer swimming pools in the municipality with cleaning and disinfection work, as well as maintenance work aimed at putting all the facilities into operation.Among the tasks, the emptying of the vessels, removing the sludge, cleaning the ceramic cladding of walls and floors, disinfecting the interior of the vessels by brushing and applying disinfectant products stands out.

The ceramic wall and floor cladding joint has also been renewed, as well as the crowning of the vessels.In all pools, an algicide treatment has been applied to walls and floors, and walls and floors have been cleaned and disinfected using disinfectant products.

It is worth highlighting the cleaning and disinfection of the different units, such as changing rooms, access control, a first-aid kit and toilets.

In addition, preventive treatments have been carried out against legionellosis and pest control and other painting, masonry, plumbing and locksmith work.
