The City Council together with the International University of the Sea addresses the keys to the Urban Agenda, the sustainable management of the Murcia orchard and the suburb of Arrixaca (18/06/2020)

| The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government presents the training offer of the consistory within the summer courses and activities of the 37th edition of Unimar | The councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, today presented the training offer of the Murcia City Council within the summer courses and activities of the 37th edition of the International University of the Sea (Unimar), which will take place between the months September and October.

 The training offer of the consistory is specified in five courses: 'Sustainable management of the garden of Murcia', 'II Edition Political communication and campaign strategies',' Urban Agendas: a new way of understanding local governance ',' Leisure and Disability : a path to inclusion.

Cognitive accessibility: understandable spaces ', and' The City in Al-Andalus; perspectives from practice (online) '.Enrollment deadlines are now open and can be found on the Unimar website.This training offer is the result of collaboration agreements between the City Council and the Universidad Internacional del Mar, whose contents will analyze current issues focused on the social, political and cultural sphere.These are five courses, the themes of which are closely linked to the municipality: the development of sustainable measures for the conservation of the orchard; the importance of political communication; the implementation of local governance policies through the Urban Agenda strategy; the different opportunities in Murcia for inclusive leisure; and the study of heritage to investigate the origins of 'Medieval Murcia'.“Unimar courses are already a consolidated activity in our Region.

In this way, the City Council bets, once again, on training for the development of the municipality with the help of experts and the involvement of the students themselves ”, explains Mercedes Bernabé.Another novelty in this edition is the implementation of the different modalities for its development, adapting to the circumstances derived from the Covid-19.

In this way, the courses will combine face-to-face, blended and online modalities.For the mayor, "the development of these actions contributes to the structuring of the territory and the promotion of relations between institutions and citizens, who are the true connoisseurs of the needs that are demanded every day."The courses, one by one-'Sustainable management of the vegetable garden of Murcia '.

Date of completion: from 09/08/2020 to 09/11/2020.

The course will try to contribute to the conservation of the peri-urban agrarian space, to the food sustainability of the urban system and to the socioeconomic development of the Murcia metropolitan area through initiatives that promote food production under agro-ecological and local principles.

 -II Edition 'Political communication and campaign strategies'.

Completion date: from 09/09/2020 to 09/11/2020.

The course addresses the different edges of political communication, from a theoretical and applied dimension, so that students can acquire skills and abilities within the framework of the analysis of elements associated with political communication, such as the analysis of the message in the different registers and communication supports, political discourse, the influence of emotions and monitoring of communication.-'Urban Agenda: a new way of understanding local governance '.

Completion date: from 09/21/2020 to 09/25/2020.

The course will show the keys to the institutional framework of the Local Urban Agendas and will explain the different multilevel participatory governance methodologies.

In addition, it will involve a meeting between policy makers and technical personnel of the Local Administration for analysis and reflection on sustainable and integrated urban development.-Leisure and Disability: a path towards inclusion.

Cognitive accessibility: understandable spaces'.

Date of completion: from 09/29/2020 to 10/03/2020.

The following course focuses on the concepts of intellectual disability and cerebral palsy and will cover the inclusive methodology based on person-centered care and quality of life, as well as work tools that help students acquire knowledge for adequate academic training and professional development.-'The City in Al-Andalus; perspectives from practice (online) '.

Date of realization: from 05/10/2020 to 09/10/2020.

The course tries to place the recent findings of the Arrixaca suburb of Murcia, the object of study in the archaeological complex of San Esteban, in the context of al-Andalus and the most recent contributions to the study of Andalusian cities.

Several case studies, novel theoretical frameworks, discussion tables on management and research, two workshops and two practical visits will be presented with the intention of analyzing the Andalusian city from different perspectives.40 courses on different subjects and professional fieldsThe Universidad Internacional del Mar, Unimar, which organizes the summer courses at the University of Murcia, offers this year a total of 40 summer courses on different subjects and professional fields.This year, due to the Covid-19, the classroom activity has been delayed until September and some of the courses have changed to online mode. The Unimar courses will be held in a total of twelve locations, thanks to the collaboration of the different municipalities of the Region, among which is the Murcia consistory.
