The PSOE warns the PP that "the photos of Ballesta cost a lot of money and we are not for superfluous expenses" (18/06/2020)

| Councilwoman Carmen Fructuoso affirms that "in these times of crisis due to the pandemic, you have to sharpen the expenses of the City Council and bet for what directly affects the well-being of the neighbors "| "We cannot disburse almost 70,000 euros in an act of Murcia Gastronomic and have the minor beneficiaries of the dining room scholarships without paying them.

As political leaders, we have no arguments to justify this" The Municipal Socialist Group, within the Socioeconomic Reactivation Plan of Murcia, which it presented a couple of weeks ago together with Ciudadanos and Podemos, bets on measures that reduce superfluous expenses.

"This is not the time, and we know that the photos of Mayor Ballesta represent a lot of money, so we ask you to reduce the staging and advertising to a minimum.

We must be responsible and redistribute public money with the fundamental objective that it has an impact in supporting our most vulnerable neighbors and in the well-being of all, "declares the socialist councilor Carmen Fructuoso. In this sense, he gives as an example expenses of this same year, which "we cannot afford to repeat in the coming months, for justice and consistency." It is then when the councilor talks about the presentation ceremony at the Romea Theater in Murcia, the Gastronomic Capital, which is around 70,000 euros.

Only the participation of Samantha Vallejo-Nágera has led to an invoice of 9,680 euros for 40 minutes.

"This expense could be understood at a time when our municipality did not suffer 30% of the population at risk of poverty, but we even believe that Murcia has great chefs who could have dealt with this act due to a minor cache, however, the mayor's constant search for glamor leads us to these types of extraordinary and unnecessary disbursements.

" For the same concept, the councilor recalls that the cancellation of events by the Covid-19 also "has generated exorbitant invoices, even of more than 6,000 euros, which is difficult for us to understand." On the other hand, the celebration of the Christmas market in the Glorieta involved an investment of around 76,000 euros.

"This without counting the cost of the Christmas tree and all the lights," adds the mayor, who has more "examples of expenses that have no place at the moment, a catering service for 5,808 euros on the occasion of Creamurcia or the video clip 'I will love you, I love you and I will love you', which cost us 6,897 euros.

" "But it is that, to make matters worse, these are invoices that at a stage of a certain economic boom could make sense and justification as long as they were profitable, but producing a video clip for two Facebook posts does not seem enough to us," he says. On this, Fructuoso points out that "equally, in the municipal accounts we find expenses without any profitability for anyone, for example, we have the creation of the Nextour application, a platform focused on tourism, which has never worked and was hired by the Computing Service for 18,125.80 euros ". For all these reasons, he asks himself "how can we justify to the public that the City Council has money for all this and does not have it to pay for the dining room scholarships, which to this day are still not fully paid.

Of course, in the Socialist Group there is no we have arguments to justify it ", and he explains that" these examples and many more are sufficient reason to demand the development and approval of a plan to reduce unnecessary spending ", in which all the non-essential needs are identified to suspend its execution definitively during the financial year 2020 with the corresponding budgetary reallocations;and to establish that the execution of all the non-executed budget items -totally or partially- that refer to non-essential or unnecessary expenses for the fight against this health, economic and social crisis, as it appears in the Socioeconomic Reactivation Plan of Murcia.
