| The City Council is working on the reform of the new premises of this center, of 460 m2, which faces its final stretch | The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the Councilor for the districts and neighborhoods, Marco Antonio Fernández, the Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, and the Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, visited the morning Works that have been carried out in the new center for the elderly in Espinardo, located on Calle Mayor in the neighborhood, which entail the creation of a new premises with different services for its users, such as hairdressing, reading, gymnastics and a cafeteria."The improvement of public spaces in the neighborhoods and districts of Murcia is a priority for the City of Murcia," said José Ballesta, who added that "enhancing the quality of these spaces, as well as conserving them, are two pillars that guide actions of the consistory.

Specifically, this action is part of the Extraordinary Plan for Investments in Pedanías, which is endowed with 14 million euros ”.The City Council has allocated an investment of almost one million euros to the acquisition and reform of the new premises –720,000 euros to its acquisition and 256,126 euros to its adaptation–, “with which the elders of Espinardo will have their own space of 460 meters squares, a meeting and socialization point located in the heart of the neighborhood that joins the network of 76 social centers for the elderly in the municipality ”, indicated the councilman from Murcia.

The center is slated to be fully completed in early July.A living room, cafeteria, hairdresser and a reading areaIt is a new space located in a local on the ground floor, thus guaranteeing universal accessibility and facilitating access for people with reduced mobility and which has two facades that have been renovated.The main action of the works consists of the remodeling of the premises, which will have a capacity of approximately 100 people and is being suitable for different purposes - a reading room, another for gymnastics and dance, a living-dining room that will also function as a multipurpose room , a hairdresser and a cafeteria with kitchen, pantry and warehouse, as well as two administrative offices and toilets.The main access to the building will be from Calle Mayor, a space that is protected from the sun by an arcade.

The other entrance will be made from the Plaza Concepción Alemán, where aluminum shutters have been installed to protect users from the sun - vertical adjustable aluminum louvers.
