The City Council activates a new Local Police group that watches over the safety of the residents of the districts (17/06/2020)

| Among its functions is vigilance to prevent crime in problem areas, as well as robberies and thefts in weekly markets | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor for Citizen Security and Economic Management, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, and the councilor for the districts and neighborhoods, Marco Antonio Fernández, presented this morning the new subgroup of the Local Police Corps at the headquarters of El Palmar, which is part of the Special Group on Citizen Security and which comes into operation this week, serving as a priority in the district of El Palmar and in the Espinardo neighborhood."This new subgroup has been created for all the necessary support for patrols to patrols that act in districts, reinforcing security in El Palmar and Espinardo as a priority," said José Ballesta, who added that "the excellence of your work and the sacrifice of your effort build a fairer, freer and safer Murcia.

We hope the best of all of you and we know that you are going to respond above the fulfillment of the duty ”.The City Council has expanded the Special Group on Citizen Security by creating this subgroup, which will provide the necessary support to patrols that act in parishes both in specific situations and in scheduled actions that require it.Theft and theft preventionThe functions carried out by the Special Group on Citizen Security and carried out by the new subgroup are the following:-Security controls.-Vigilance for compliance with Municipal Ordinances.-Vigilances in theft and theft prevention in weekly markets.-Prevention of crime in problem areas.-Vigilance and prevention in leisure areas.Specifically, the new team is made up of 14 agents, a deputy inspector and an inspector.

In total, the Special Group on Citizen Security has 59 personnel and 26 vehicles, including vans, cars and motorcycles.More than 11,500 people identified and 1,354 complaints of consumption of alcoholic beverages in public placesDuring the event, a balance of the activity carried out by the Special Group on Citizen Security during the past year was offered, in which the following activities were recorded:-Persons detained: 512.-Persons identified: 11,583.-Control and actions with vehicles: 3,214.- Valet parking complaints: 2,346.- Valet parking complaints for disobedience: 82.-Complaints for drug possession: 1,671.-Complaints for drug use: 319.-Complaints for consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places: 1,354.-Complaints for sale of alcoholic beverages after hours: 127.-Complaints for sale of alcoholic beverages to minors: 24.-Garden surveillance: 5,602.-Weekly Market Surveillance: 117.-Teaching Center Surveillance: 1,380.For almost two decadesSpecifically, the Special Group on Citizen Security (GESC) was created in November 2001 and began its journey towards the end of that same year, to carry out in a special way all the functions related to citizen security within the Corps of the Murcia Local Police.
