1,500 direct jobs thanks to an investment of 13 million euros in the neighborhoods and districts of Murcia (17/06/2020)

| Aguas de Murcia is working on the renovation of the supply networks of Beniaján, Zarandona, Algezares, Rincón de Seca, El Puntal, San Ginés, Nonduermas, Monteagudo and in the neighborhoods of Santa Eulalia and Infante Juan Manuel | A commitment to employment and the improvement of the quality of life of residents of the Murcian neighborhoods and districts, through projects to expand the water supply network and works to improve sanitation.

This is the objective of the Investment Plan of the municipal company Aguas de Murcia for the period 2020-2021, endowed with 13 million euros and which means the creation of more than 1,500 jobs directly, through the execution of 63 projects ."Of the 13 million euros, a total of 9.1 million are already in execution, which represents more than 70% of the total amount," said the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, and the councilor of Pedanías y Barrios, Marco Antonio Fernández, during his visit to Monteagudo.Nearly 390,000 euros –317,818 euros have been invested in this district to Martínez Costa street, where the supply and sanitation network has been renewed; and 71,274 euros in Teresa de Calcutta street, where a new sanitation network has been installed–; works that will benefit the more than 4,000 residents of the district.Algezares, San Ginés, Rincón de Seca, El Puntal and NonduermasIn the first six months of 2020, work was carried out in the districts of Beniaján, Zarandona, Algezares, Rincón de Seca, El Puntal, Nonduermas, Monteagudo and in the Polígono Industrial Oeste district of San Ginés, as well as in the neighborhoods of Infante Juan Manuel and Santa Eulalia."The structuring and efficiency of public services, so that all Murcians enjoy the best benefits regardless of where they live, is a priority for the municipal Corporation," recalled José Ballesta.

The next works will be carried out in the districts of Sangonera la Seca, Puente Tocinos, Cabezo de Torres and Llano de Brujas.The works of the 2020-2021 Investment Plan correspond, 62% to works to improve sanitation, while the remaining 38% are related to works in the supply network.Renovation and installation of the new network in MonteagudoSpecifically, the works being carried out on Martínez Costa Street, in Monteagudo, involve the renewal of the material in the drinking water network and the increase in the hydraulic capacity of the sewerage system.

Once the hydraulic works are completed, the works corresponding to the replacement of the pavement on said road will be carried out.In parallel, Aguas de Murcia is working on the installation of a new sewerage network on Teresa de Calcutta Street, operating on an area of ??903 square meters.

These works translate into the implementation of new sanitation infrastructures that will improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the area of ??action. Environmental innovation in the water networkIn parallel, Aguas de Murcia is participating in a European project that recovers nutrients from wastewater to use as fertilizers in agriculture.

Under the name Life Enrich, this initiative is being developed exclusively in the Murcia-Este treatment plant, from where up to 40% of the phosphorus stored by the 100,000 cubic meters of water that is treated daily at the facility is recovered."Emuasa is an example of efficiency in management and contributes with his work to protect the environment, which is one of the main objectives of the government team," recalled the Mayor of Murcia.
