"If there really is a will and true concern for these sectors that make our municipality progress, it is time to show it" The recent crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic has had serious consequences in almost all the economic sectors of our country, but without a doubt, if there are sectors on which the economic crisis has been most focused and is the culture , hospitality and tourism, sectors that account for 15% of regional GDP and directly employ more than 50,000 people.
For this reason, the Municipal Socialist Group, within the Socioeconomic Reactivation Plan of Murcia, with 67 measures agreed with the Citizens and Podemos groups, makes clear and effective proposals to mitigate the effects of the pandemic in the aforementioned sectors. Socialist councilor Enrique Lorca points out as solutions for culture to reinforce programming in all cultural centers, the call for different grants, the creation of a digital platform and encourage street activities to support the local cultural sector.
In this regard, he talks about a Cultural Shock Plan, endowed with € 750,000.
"After the suspension of any event, we believe it necessary to accelerate the implementation of measures to exit this sector," said the mayor. Likewise, it considers essential a campaign to reinforce the programming of concerts, exhibitions (painting, photography, etc.) and performing arts throughout the territory, supported by the cultural centers and auditoriums of the districts of the municipality during this year and 2021. In addition, other measures would be to summon specific aid for creators with a profile of freelancers and intermittent contractors, assessing parameters such as the quality of their activity, experience or curriculum and create urgent aid bags aimed at the five creative sectors for professionals.
