| The consistory is acting with a special deployment in all districts with different methods and means, from drones and a helicopter to areas of difficult access | The Murcia City Council continues with the Emergency Plan against the tiger mosquito -aedes albopictus- acting with a special deployment in all districts and corners of the entire municipality and using different methods and means, such as drones and a helicopter for difficult areas access.Specifically, today it is acting in San Ginés, Algezares and El Carmen and it is planned that next week it will continue in different parts of the city and in districts such as Churra, Beniaján, Zarandona, La Alberca, Santiago el Mayor, Torreagüera, Guadalupe, Llano de Brujas, El Raal, Gea and Truyols, Zarandona, Los Dolores, Cabezo de Torres and Valladolises, among other districts and neighborhoods.Also, these days it has already been working in different corners of these localities, as well as others such as Santo Ángel, Monteagudo, San José de la Vega, Cabezo de Torres, among others.The Department of Sports and Health, directed by Felipe Coello, insists on the importance of citizen collaboration in the fight against this insect and even more so due to the recent rains."It is very important to take into account foci such as flower pots, containers and private patios, as well as untreated or abandoned swimming pools since they are important foci of mosquito proliferation, for which the help of the neighbors is necessary," explains Felipe Coello.Aerial treatment is carried out by identifying and geolocating outbreaks of public or private mosquitoes and applying the biological larvicide on areas of stagnant water inaccessible by terrestrial methods.

The selected product is a biological larvicide based on Bacillus thurigiensis selective for the mosquito larva and respectful of the rest of the flora and fauna.By land-based methods, continuous work continues on public foci, such as accessible boulevards, irrigation canals, city scuppers and districts, as well as any other site with public access and presenting water stagnations that may constitute a possible focus breeding.The device is made up of three SUVs, equipped with a powerful spray gun and four manual guns, plus 10 fumigation packs for scuppers.Recommendations to combat itThe municipal health services of the City Council have launched a prevention and information campaign against the tiger mosquito.
