The PSOE accuses the PP "of lying by selling the Batán Mill, which has become a landfill" as a focus of tourist interest (03/06/2020)

] | Socialist councilors Enrique Lorca and Andrés Guerrero visited the enclave where rehabilitation was promised in 2016, 2017 and 2018 of the property and restoration of the environment but right now there is only ruin and garbage | Today the environment of the Batán mill, located on the Camino Viejo de Monteagudo, where it has been planned and disseminated by the PP, a comprehensive rehabilitation continues to press the ruin and abandonment, as the socialist councilors were able to verify last week Enrique Lorca and Andrés Guerrero, who were accompanied by the PSOE spokesman at the Municipal Board of Zarandona, José Daniel Zamora Fenoll. "How to make promises and create false expectations is always free for the PP, because there we have what was going to be a focus of tourist interest turned into a focus of garbage and ruin", explains Lorca, who recalls that the rehabilitation has been announced successively in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. For his part, Guerrero points out that "the government team should take our heritage seriously and be fully aware that our great sign of identity is the garden, it is what most identifies us and, putting it in value with authentic decision, it could be a tourist attraction of the first order ". He adds that "it is regrettable to see, once again, that the vision of the person who runs this Town Hall does not go beyond the city center or Murcia Río, completely forgetting so many jewels that we have scattered around our districts". In this regard, they recall that in August 2018 the press reported that the archaeological and restoration works in the surroundings of the Batán Mill were being completed and that it was going to be an action that included the rehabilitation of the base of the Arab Tower of the 12th centuries- XIII, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, and the 18th century bridge over the Azarbe Mayor.

In addition, "to top it off, they gave the completion date of the works for the end of that same month of August, however, the current reality, two years later, is devastating due to the accumulated dirt, because the mill still has not been acquired by the City Council and due to the carelessness of the Torreón that was restored but has been abandoned to its fate full of graffiti ".
