Meeting of MxC Murcia and councilors Ayto de Murcia (03/06/2020)

Dear Ana.From Mothers for the Climate Murcia we allow ourselves, on this occasion, to address you not only as a reference woman for many other women, but above all as the mother you are.

We need your support for our sons and daughters, for yours.

So we write to you from mother to mother.Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has given us an important life lesson, making us feel fear in the first person, with a tremendous feeling of vulnerability and uncertainty, and changing our lives from one day to the next, with the harsh social consequences and economic that has supposed.Fear, like all emotions, has its function.

It allows survival and leads you to take refuge, to flee or to react and, for us, it has long moved us to act.

Before this pandemic, we were already carrying a great concern that led us to unite in the face of the evident climate crisis that the planet is suffering and the imminent catastrophe that we are facing.

We are aware that this crisis is the result of our individual actions and our way of life as a society, and that the social, economic and environmental consequences will be suffered directly by our sons and daughters.

Its dangers, its storms, its threats, its derived diseases, its droughts, ...The climate crisis is harsh in its magnitude.

According to the scientific evidence that has existed for decades, it will not be comparable to the fight against a "simple virus", nor will confinement be sufficient to control it.

However, it has an advantage that we must take advantage of, and that is that we already know that it is there, we know how to mitigate its effects and we can still act.We can end the unsustainability curve that causes it because we already have the vaccine: it is about betting on climate action, the circular economy, sustainable mobility, responsible consumption and environmental education.

We have and we can achieve this econormality; if we don't, how are we going to explain tomorrow to our sons and daughters that we knew it and we didn't react? That is why we have decided to write to you and ask for your help; We need you, and all the influential women.

Together we have to raise our voices to raise awareness and to achieve changes NOW, real and effective changes, at the individual level, but of course also at the political and collective level. The real future of our sons and daughters depends on these changes being on the political agenda and what we are capable of doing.

After the humility lesson that the pandemic has given us, we have the hunch that they will be now or they will not be.

And that is a great responsibility. We are on time and we do not know any mother who remains impassive when her sons and daughters are in danger or at risk.

We start from the conviction that, as women, we have a lot of strength and that what we do not achieve, nobody can achieve. That is why we ask you to join our voices on June 5 to claim #EcoNormality.

We thank you for everything you can do to be a speaker for this campaign and to include this petition in the current social, political and media debate.

In addition, it would be great if you made your support for the campaign and Mothers for the Climate Murcia visible by mentioning us on social networks with # 5JPorUnaEcoNormalidad, sharing your photo with a support poster.

We thank you for any gesture that serves to amplify our voice and that every day we are more influential mothers for the climate, with the capacity to achieve small and great changes, individual and political. Thanks in heart and in advance for your support.Signed: Mothers for the Climate Murcia
