The districts will gain more than 27,000 m2 this Sunday for walking and sports thanks to the Murcia Pedestrian plan (03/06/2020)

| In the district of Nonduermas, one of the main arteries of the district, the Carril de los Párragas, will be closed to traffic, with almost a kilometer long | The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, and the councilor for the districts and neighborhoods, Marco Antonio Fernández, visited the district of Nonduermas today, where he reported on the new actions of the Murcia Pedestrian plan , which this coming Sunday, June 7, will allow pedestrians to gain a total of 27,048 m2 in the Murcian districts of Nonduermas, Guadalupe, Garres and Lages, Alquerías and Santiago and Zaraiche."Working to improve the collective health status of half a million Murcians, promoting safe pedestrian mobility, and promoting sustainability, to maintain environmental quality levels, are the principles that underpin the mobility strategy of the Murcia City Council", said the mayor.Specifically, in the district of Nonduermas one of the main arteries of the district, the Carril de los Párragas, almost one kilometer long and 7,200 m2, will be closed to traffic, which will allow families to gain space for the walk and the sport activity.In Santiago and Zaraiche two streets will be pedestrianized this Sunday: Ambassador Inocencio Arias and the Juan de Borbón service road.

In the district of Alquerías, Cura Jiménez street will be closed to traffic; in Los Garres there will be three streets Gloria, Virgen del Mar and Brisas; while in Guadalupe the avenues Reina Sofía and Reyes Católicos will be exclusively for pedestrian use.The pedestrian conquers more than 50,000 m2 in the municipality this SundayIn total, this Sunday a total of 50,149 m2 will be transferred to pedestrians, since in addition to the district routes, we must add the city streets and neighborhoods: Gran Vía, four arteries in the Carmen neighborhood (Alameda de Colón , Canalejas Avenue, Plaza Camachos and Torre de Romo), Sierra de Peñarrubia street in the North district and Miguel Ángel Blanco and Isidro Roca de San Benito-Barrio del Progreso streets.A total of 37 districts and districtsThe Murcia Pedestrian plan includes different streets of a total of 37 districts, neighborhoods and districts.
