The City Council maintains the celebration of civil marriages thanks to the use of new technologies and the incorporation of new dates in the nuptial calendar (03/06/2020)

| The consistory celebrates a total of 15 weddings in the Assembly Hall in the period between March 13 and on May 30; in June the celebration of 8 is foreseen and for July there are closed 20 | The Murcia City Council has continued with the celebration of civil marriages during the state of alarm, adapting to security protocols and providing couples with all the services available to them, such as the broadcast of the act by videoconference or the opening of new dates on the wedding calendar. In this way, based on the data, the Plenary Hall has hosted a total of 15 civil marriages, of the 42 planned during the period between March 13 and May 30; Eight ceremonies are planned in June, of the 20 initially scheduled, and for July there are 20 closed, of the 24 planned. In most cases, the postponements are being made for the months of July, September, October and November, although there are already couples who have moved the ceremony for next year.“Being close to the citizen and offering them all the facilities and services available have been our priorities during the state of alarm.

The celebration of marriage is a very important moment in a person's life and that is why we have worked directly with couples to accompany them in all their decisions ”, explains Mercedes Bernabé, councilor of Urban Agenda and Open Government, responsible for the service of civil marriages. In this sense, the mayor recalls that two more weekends have been enabled, which were not foreseen in the initial wedding calendar, for July 24 and 25 and November 27 and 28.AppointmentThe Office of Civil Marriages has opened to the public in person through the appointment procedure, which must be requested at the following link: https://www.murcia.es/web/portal/cita-previa-servicio-de- attention-citizen.Likewise, you can also request the appointment through the phone 010 or the number 968 22 95 49, if you call outside the municipality. The Service resumes face-to-face attention, located in Glorieta de España, with all the protection measures against Covid-19.

The spaces have been indicated, the mask and the use of disinfecting gels are mandatory, as well as the safety distance.Wedding calendarThe days established by the consistory for the celebration of weddings are on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, except for specific dates such as Christmas, Easter, Spring Festival, August, as well as the first fortnight of September.“According to the data, the highest volume of canceled weddings, more than half, has occurred from March 13 to May 30, but it is important to note that this period has coincided just in weeks where fewer celebrations are scheduled, due to the indicated holidays and parties ”, explains Mercedes Bernabé. The mayor thanks the staff of the Civil Marriage Service for the work carried out during this time, "being in direct contact with couples to give them the best solution on that important day."Phase-reduced capacityFrom the start of the state of alarm, the ceremonies in the Plenary Hall of the Consistory were reduced to the attendance of the bride and groom, two witnesses, the councilor responsible for officiating the ceremony, in addition to those responsible for protocol and the office of civil marriages. The capacity in the Plenary Hall was expanded in Phase 2 to 50 people and, foreseeably, in Phase 3 75 will be allowed.

To these restrictions, we must add safety distance measures and the mandatory use of a mask.Videoconference weddingsThe City Council began broadcasting civil weddings by videoconference on April 25, a measure that couples who have requested during this time have been able to welcome in order to feel closer to their family and friends.Since then, the guests and couples who have requested it have been able to follow the ceremony by videoconference, through a web link to which they have previously been given access.

Also, in the Assembly Hall a screen has been installed on which the bride and groom could see their closest friends.
