The Culture and Heritage Area of ??IU-Verdes Murcia has denounced bad practices in the management of the heritage of the city of Murcia, referring to the urgent precautionary measures presented this week before the Contentious Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Murcia to paralyze the demolition of the walls of the Old Prison.These walls, true symbols of the history of the building, were in danger of disappearing since years ago their rehabilitation was put out to tender to turn the old prison into a gastro-bar without character and without a past.

This rehabilitation incurs much of that neglect and lack of direction; but it is doubly painful, since the former Provincial Prison could be an effective Museum of the years of not only ideological repression: women accused of adultery and clandestine abortions were punished there."From IU-Verdes Murcia we therefore support the precautionary measures against the demolition of the walls and we appeal to the local government to re-consider the heritage of this city as a wealth in itself, which needs a museumization and repair according to history.
