Murcia claims the need for fair financing for the modernization process of city councils against Covid-19 (17/05/2020)

| The City Council joins the FEMP Information Society, Technological Innovation and Digital Agenda Commission that seeks to promote the use of New Information and Communication Technologies in local administration | The councilor for Urban Development and Administration Modernization, José Guillén, has participated this week by videoconference in the Information Society, Technological Innovation and Digital Agenda Commission of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) in which, together to mayors and representatives of city councils from all over Spain present in this organization, he has claimed the need for fair financing for the modernization process of local entities and more at a time when digitization and electronic administration is so necessary to face attention and service to citizens in the face of the Covid-19 crisis.Murcia joins this body whose main objective is to promote the use of New Information and Communication Technologies in the Local Administration.Specifically, at the meeting, it was agreed to draw up a joint plan, which will be closed next Thursday, to raise the FEMP Governing Board, for its approval and subsequent referral to the Government of Spain, with the best proposals to fight against the consequences of the current crisis and thus participate in the reconstruction phase.Likewise, the councilor has expressed his commitment to work, throughout the legislature, to develop measures that convert new technologies into a vector of economic progress in the post-Covid-19 era.Likewise, among the topics discussed during the meeting, it has been found the constitution of sectoral working groups to prepare studies and formulate proposals on issues directly related to the purposes of the FEMP, as well as proposals for institutional declarations."Administrations must take advantage of new technologies to enhance the exchange of information between institutions to be closer to the citizen, improving their daily services and quality of life," said the mayor. The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces is an Association of Local Entities at the state level with the greatest implantation, which groups together municipalities, councils, councils and councils.
