The Murcia City Council urgently requests the counselor for Social Policy the money for the dining room scholarships (12/05/2020)

| The councilor for Social Rights clarifies that it is the only Department in Spain that has passed the management of the scholarships to the City Councils | Pilar Torres affirms that PSOE and Podemos are wrong in the window and replies that the social communist government is not there to teach lessons in the management of the coronavirusThe Murcia City Council, through the Department of Social Rights, which is headed by the mayor Pilar Torres, has demanded from the vice president of Social Policy, Isabel Franco, "the money from the dining room scholarships that your department owes." The mayor Pilar Torres recalls that "these aids suppose an improper competition that the Murcian Consistory has assumed by responsibility and generosity".

In fact, the councilor stresses that "the Region of Murcia is the only autonomous community in the country that has passed the management of these scholarships to the municipalities."According to the information provided by the regional administration, in the municipality of Murcia there are more than 3,000 scholarship minors (2,101 awarded by the Community), while the next municipality, Cartagena, only had 593, Lorca 208, Molina 176 and the rest amounts far inferior, The Murcia City Council took over the management of these aids through the formula of wallet cards, to which the two top-ups ordered by the Ministry were made, with the City advancing the money.

Both the cost of the wallet cards (€ 2.40 / card), as well as the amount of the 899 charges corresponding to children with scholarships from the City Council and other minors attending Special Education Centers were assumed by the City Council from the first day and by the same term established by the Regional Administration, with a total approval of € 267,604.48, of which € 182,871.04 correspond to the financing of the regional administration and the rest to a municipal contribution, including the cost of the three thousand cards. On the other hand, the mayor Pilar Torres is surprised "by the defense that both the PSOE and Podemos now make of the wallet cards when in the past they harshly criticized their use until Vice President Pablo Iglesias marked the way forward by pointing them out as the right formula.

" In the same way, he has indicated to them that "they have made a mistake at the window when demanding explanations about the dining room scholarships because this issue is not the direct responsibility of the City Council." The councilor for Social Rights reminded the councilors Clara Martínez, from Podemos, and Antonio Benito, from the PSOE, that "the one from Murcia has been the consistory of the Region that has allocated the most public funds to dining room scholarships."In the same way, he reminded them that "it is false that the aid that they mention for a million euros that the central government has released can be destined to the payments of the dining room scholarships, since these funds, logically, are not they can use to attend to inappropriate needs of the City Council, such as dining room scholarships.

This amount will be used to articulate lines of aid that serve to meet the needs of the most vulnerable groups.

" Torres concluded by stating that "the social communist government is not there to give lessons in the management of the coronavirus after seeing the failures that the central government is making are essential issues for the well-being and security of citizens."
