The City Council requests the Commonwealth of Canales del Taibilla to reduce the rate of drinking water supply (08/05/2020)

| This will allow savings in the water bill for Murcia | The Governing Board has given the green light to the request to the Commonwealth of Canals of Taibilla for a reduction in the rate of supply of drinking water to the City of Murcia, as a result of the health, social and economic crisis caused by COVID- 19.This would make it possible to lower the cost of drinking water service paid by Murcia.Since the start of the declaration of the state of alarm as a consequence of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, the City Council has adopted different measures to guarantee, on the one hand, the maintenance of sanitary guarantees to preserve the health of all citizens and, on the other, those that make possible and bear the social and economic consequences that the state of alarm is causing. These actions include the application of the social rate without budgetary limitation and the non-execution of supply cuts due to non-payment and the postponement of debts.Currently 15,766 people benefit from the € 5 / month plan, intended for people who do not exceed a consumption of 110 liters of water per day, and which also means exemption from paying the garbage fee for their beneficiaries.Aguas de Murcia also offers a social rate for families at risk of exclusion that allows a 25% saving on the water bill in the water service fee.
